Talk:Kranti Kanade

Untitled edit

I added a few references to this article, and also placed his awards won in a new section. I may be redundant and someone might want to change it. This article can still use some work though.Beefcake6412 (talk) 18:13, 4 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

References to be added edit

I would like to suggest some changes as I don't exactly know yet to edit. Some references - For Gandhi of the Month - http://dearcinema.com/article/first-iffla-film-fund-grant-to-kranti-kanade/2421 http://www.google.co.in/interstitial?url=http://www.indianfilmfestival.org/IFFLA-film-fund.php

For Mahek - http://expressindia.indianexpress.com/story_print.php?storyId=313384

For Chaitra - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0940673/

The line under 'Mahek' - 'It is also shown as part of studies in schools of Canada' can be deleted as there are no references. The line under 'Chaitra' - 'It was India's official entry to the Student Academy Awards.' can be deleted for lack of reference. The title 'NGO' with contents 'Kranti is a co-founder of an NGO that works for the destitute. So far they have rehabilitated more than 300 children.' can be deleted as there are no references.Gautam.rayakar (talk) 08:30, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

OK Thanks for this information
http://dearcinema.com/article/first-iffla-film-fund-grant-to-kranti-kanade/2421 - This looks OK
http://www.google.co.in/interstitial?url=http://www.indianfilmfestival.org/IFFLA-film-fund.php - Is identified by Google as a dangerous site containing Malware - so my computer will not let me visit it, and we would not add a known dangerous site to an article
http://expressindia.indianexpress.com/story_print.php?storyId=313384 - Indian Express is a reliable source
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0940673/ - IMDB is not a reliable source - as it can be written by anyone
Thank you for admitting there are no references to certain sections - what we need most, however, is extensive coverage in a reliable, independent, source, about Kranti Kanade himself, when and where he was born, etc. not about one film at a time - is there such an article? - Arjayay (talk) 09:02, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

A more reliable reference for Chaitra - http://iffi.nic.in/Dff2011/Frm49NFAAward.aspx?PdfName=46NFA.pdf For Gandhi of the Month - http://hollywood.greekreporter.com/2012/04/06/iffla-2012-greek-roots-of-the-indian-film-festival-of-la/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/anam-syed/indian-film-festival-of-los-angeles_b_1406137.html

Regarding Kranti himself, there is no such article. Article - http://cfsindia.org/tag/kranti-kanade/ talks about his education.Gautam.rayakar (talk) 09:35, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

OK I have removed the advertisement tag, but if there is no more information about Kanade, the BLP tag must remain - I will include the references later today - I have to go out for a couple of hours. Arjayay (talk) 09:38, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Arjayay! The only articles I found about his birth are http://www.talltask.com/Kranti-Kanade-height-17462.html & http://www.spokeo.com/Kranti+Kanade+1 . Hope these are fine? What more information is needed as he is 'relatively unknown.'Gautam.rayakar (talk) 09:55, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Stating he is "relatively unknown" is definitely not in your favour - is he actually notable enough for a Wikipedia article? i.e. does he meet the criteria set out in Wikipedia:Notability (people)? If not, there is no point in adding more and more about the films, two of the three films already have their own articles, and we don't want to, or need to, repeat that information. This article is supposed to be about Kranti Kanade - we can cover his filmography in three lines. The subject of any article requires significant coverage, in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. If there is no such coverage, then the article is likely to be reconsidered for deletion. - Arjayay (talk) 15:48, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
With regard to the two sources about Kranti Kanade 2 paragraphs above - the first "tall task" is more of a joke-site than a "reliable" source, whilst the second "spokeo" states that "Original Authors of this text are noted on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kranti_Kanade." - No, we absolutely cannot accept information which uses this site as its source - it clearly proves nothing - other than the lack of information. - Arjayay (talk) 15:53, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Can we at least get the 'Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous or harmful. (February 2011)' statement removed, as this article does not have any contentious or libelous information?114.143.114.1 (talk) 08:03, 14 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think you are mis-reading the template. It does not say that the article includes any Contentious or libelous material - it is a warning against anyone adding such material, and an instruction that anyone finding such material, should remove it.
This is the standard template for biography articles with insufficient citations - it is pre-formatted and the text cannot be edited. All Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) templates include that line. Please see Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup#Individual message boxes and you can see there are 7 such templates, all with that line in them.
There is no doubt that the article "needs additional citations for verification" - and I see you were not asking for that section to be removed. The only way to have the template removed, is to provide the additional biographical information, from reliable sources, that are independent of the subject. Without such information, someone could nominate this article for deletion at any time. Arjayay (talk) 09:14, 15 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
