Kothamangalam-Kakkanad New Road

A New 4 Lane Highway is Planned from Thankalam to Kakkanad, Which Will Connect Kothamangalam to Ernakulam in 27 kms. After many years the balance work started for the Kothamangalam - Kakkanad four line road. It is the one of the great dream of people living in Kothamangalam.

Breakup of religions

In Kothamanagalam Taluka Hindus are ~55%,Christians in Total 35% and remaining consists of Islam and others

Kothamangalam development

Census 2011 notifies a new urban agglomeration consisting of Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha and the surrounding villages and towns. This is a separate UA(urban agglomeration) from Kochi UA. Kothamangalam municipality borders just 2kms before Muvattupuzha town. As we know, Muvattupuzha-Kothamangalam is a twin town entity. The development of existing NH49 to shorten the distance from present 14kms to 10kms or so will bring the towns closer. A new district HQ'ed at Muvattupuzha can bring huge development to our region. Kochi's growth is limited to the suburban region. Areas in the east are treated as waste lands under Ernakulam. Muvattupuzha district with government offices spread across both the towns (Kothamangalam and Muvattupuzha) as well as the bringing back of investments from Kochi done by our people to our towns will propel this region into glory. Like Karnataka's Hubli-Dharwad municipality, Muvattupuzha-Kothamangalam corporation can be created at a later time. There is nothing good sticking with Kochi, as under Ernakulam district we are not seeing any good thing happening. A new Muvattupuzha district must consist of areas in the north Travancore including Koothattukulam-Veliyannur to Kunnathunad taluk and parts of Idukki district. I don't believe Thodupuzha will join a Muvattupuzha district because, Thodupuzha's growth is rightly funded under the Idukki district. Kothamangalam new roads for connectivity

If we check Google Maps, radial or "by air" distance from Thodupuzha to Kothamangalam and Thodupuzha to Muvattupuzha are the same. Direct connectivity between Thodupuzha and Kothamangalam under 20kms is possible.This can propel the growth to areas like adivad etc through which this highway may pass through. Besides, All the nearby towns (Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha, Piravom, Koothattukulam, Perumbavur, Kolenchery-Puthenkurish) will be interconnected and can grow independently from Kochi.

Thankalam-Kakkanad road needs to be realized. But, LA is a big problem. So, why not use Nellikkuzhy-Mannoor-Thattamugal-Kakkanad road developed into new highway?
