Stein's listing of self as first director of Carter Center from 1983-1986?

I have been unable to find confirmation of that description of Stein's role in the first years of the Carter Center in its chronology of its history, which begins in 1981. After 1986, it does list the appointment of an executive director; but not before that. See Chronology 1981-1989). There seems to be some contradiction between Stein's listing of himself as the director of the Carter Center and the Carter Center's own information about its history. I think that this information in the article (and other articles in Wikipedia and elsewhere describing Stein, depending on his own biographical website information and self-descriptions) needs further substantiation and a NPOV reliable source for support. --NYScholar 01:57, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

In 1986, the Carter Center Chronology lists: "May 15: Dr. William H. Foege appointed executive director of the Carter Center of Emory University. William C. Watson appointed associate executive director." But before that, there is no mention of any executive director or associate executive director. The only mention in the Chronology of Stein prior to that is:

1983:
Nov. 6-9: Middle East Consultation: Five Years After Camp David, directed by Kenneth W. Stein, appointed Carter Center fellow July 1986.

Prior to that in 1983, there is this reference to the development of the Carter Center:

Sept. 22: Unveiling of architects' model of The Carter Center. Architects: Jova/Daniels/Busby and Lawton, Umemura & Yamamoto. Landscape firm: EDAW. Museum exhibit: Design and Production Inc. General contractor: Beers Inc. Original concept for Carter Presidential Center design: Christopher Hemmeter.

June 15: Appointment of Board of Advisors: 12 members.

This Carter Center Chronology simply does not mention any appointment of any executive director prior to 1986. I think that this discrepancy between the Carter Center's presentation of its own history and Stein's description of his associations with the Carter Center on his Emory University organization's website needs some clarification through NPOV reliable sources. --NYScholar 05:17, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Professor Stein's Curriculum vitae (linked on his organization's website--see External links), however, does list the details of his association with the Carter Center as follows: << Carter Center of Emory University: President Carter's primary adviser on Middle Eastern affairs, 1983-1993; Planned and choreographed President and Mrs. Carter's three lengthy visits to the Middle East in March 1983, March 1987, and March 1990. Middle East Fellow, 1983-2006; Director of Middle East Programs, July 1986-August 1992; Responsible for development and execution of five-year plan which includes research, public education, scholarly publication and fund-raising. Organized and implemented Middle East Consultations with President Carter in November 1987 and November 1990. Executive Director, Carter Center, February 1984-June 1986; Charged by Emory University with the task of establishing a public policy research unit of the University. The effort included recruitment of scholars and personnel, developing operational procedures, creating programs for community education, generating compatible links with existing University units, budgetary management, and public relations. >> I will correct the dates re: his listed directorship of the Carter Center (for which he says he was appointed by Emory University) from "1983-1986" to "1984-1986." --NYScholar 23:49, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
