Requested move edit

I feel this article should be directly at Ken Campbell and the disambiguation page at Ken Campbell (disambiguation). Most of the articles linking to Ken Campbell are about the British writer and actor. I had disambiguated a good number of them, when I realised this would be a better solution. Any links to the dab page that are not about the actor have already been pointed at the correct articles. JRawle (Talk) 22:45, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

There is a recent tendency to make the principle use a disambiguation page, recently. I find this difficult, as people going for the main use then need to go that extra click; and articles that editors believe they are adding the principle usage end up pointing to disambiguation. This is the wrong use of disambiguation and there's really a lot less to fix if we accept the principal of principle usage ... you're right support move. cheers Kbthompson (talk) 23:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think you mean the principle of pèrincipal usage,... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.134.192.254 (talk) 15:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Victoria Hall (Hanley) edit

For the sake of the link, does anyone know if in "Early life and career" the "Victoria Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent" is the same as the Victoria Hall (Hanley)? --Old Moonraker (talk) 11:00, 14 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

No. It is definitely not. The Victoria was Peter Terson's theatre in the round back in the 1970s and was originally situated in Newcastle-under-Lyme, where I went to school. This is near Hanley/Stoke-on-Trent. The new Victoria Theatre is now in Basford, a suburb of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It is still, AFAIK, a theatre in the round.

The Victoria Hall, Hanley, is a large concert hall. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.134.192.254 (talk) 15:10, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pigspurt and The Exorcist edit

AFAIK "Charrington" may have been an influence on Max von Sydow's characterisation of the lead rôle, and not "one of the main resources" for the film as a whole. {{clarify me}} tag restored. --Old Moonraker (talk) 04:44, 25 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Death edit

There is a general reluctance to discuss the circumstances of his death. I am forced, in the absence of any published explanations, to speculate that the cause of Campbell's sudden death may have been respiratory failure due to contacting "parrot fever" or psittacosis. This might seem an appropriately 'absurd' demise for someone like KC, but - considering his domestic circumstances - not one that should be discounted unless someone chooses to reveal the findings of the autopsy. 91.85.157.94 (talk) 11:13, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

You're not being forced to speculate by anyone or anything except your own joyful, salubrious and irrepressible need to weave a story. Ken would have loved that but it isn't what we do here. We are so very, very boring here.--TS 20:10, 1 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

We still have no cause of death. At the very least, I believe it was a heart attack. 86.166.120.23 (talk) 15:46, 1 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Removal of edit which added a Prior Address edit

I'm going to remove the addition of Campbell's penultimate address, because: 1. it's been carelesly slopped in without regard to the shape of the article. 2. It's irrelevant to the article, and will remain so until eg. a Blue Plaque is commissioned for the address 3. It's not published anywhere, so I dare say counts as Original Research. I imagine that the contributor was one of the many people Campbell engaged with and invited over for capers, and they wanted to chip in... but it has to be done within the guidelines of Wikipedia. Bald Trilogy edit

A copy edit in October 2008 inaccurately credited Trevor Nunn as Artistic Director of the National Theatre with commissioning Campbell to write what became The Bald Trilogy. This despite the fact that the trilogy was produced at the National Theatre in October 1993 when Richard Eyre was Artistic Director. Trevor Nunn didn't take over at the NT until 1997. Erasmus edit

I'm sure I remember a TV series for younger viewers called "Erasmus" which starred Campbell. It would have been in the mid 80s. Will look it up. Tigerboy1966  13:04, 21 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Looks like somebody's added it since: it was Erasmus Microman. --McGeddon (talk) 12:41, 28 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Uncon edit

Those of us who were at Uncon 2002 will never forget Ken's extraordinary set, culminating in a young lady (his daughter Daisy?) squirting the audience with water from her rectum!!! A sight which will remain with me for the rest of my life - all I can say is I am glad I was sitting well back. And a DVD of it was sold - my eternal regret is I never bought one.
