Hello. I would like to suggest some changes to the language table to improve accuracy. I believe the changes I am suggesting follow the common spelling usage in currency in Karamoja.

1. At the top of the table, the English spelling of the word for the language of Karamoja should be "Karamojong" or "Karimojong" cf. the word "mojong" meaning "old".

2. Using "Ejoka" (which is properly a question) as "hello" is surely more ngaTurkana than ngaKarimojong (though perhaps used in Moroto town rather than the richer language of the villages). In south Karamoja (Karimojong) one hears more often "ie-ia?" (lit. "are you there?") sometimes with "ijoka?" added - thus: "ie-ia ijoka?" and in Kotido (naJie) almost exclusiveley "ie-ia?" or "ie-ba?". The reply to "ie-ia?" is "ee, ie iyong dang-a?" (pronounced "ie iyodanga?")Lit. "yes, are you there also?" If you insist on using "ejok" ("good"), then the initiation would be "ejoka?" and the response would be "ejok" or "ejok-nooi".

3. Perhaps add "kanyaritae ayong (apaLomita)" "I am called (Nick)"

4. the word for yes is commonly spelled "Ee", I believe.

5. surely good bye should be "ikianyun" "see you" - without the "i" it would just mean "see".

6. Isn't "water" "ngakipi" in Kotido and "akipi" in Moroto? (presumably it became shortened for some reason as most traditionally known liquids are feminine plural).

7. "goat" is commonly "akine" (no "h")

8. properly "ngae?" rather than "ngai"

9. some mention of the pronunciation of "ng" as in "singer" would be sensible.

Despite what it may appear, my knowledge is pretty basic. Anyone want to work on a language article? - "Karimojong" and "Karamojong" are currently red-linked.

I propose to make these changes within 2 weeks if there are no objections and will happily discuss if others wish.

Hello there!

I edited the Karamoja page. I would like to complete it by adding tables and pictures, but I failed to get them in. I also failed to create an account, and am therefore not logged in. (I tried 4 or 5 times, but there was always something to quarrel about my username, or chosen passwort, or whatever) I DO NOT have endless time to learn how to be a half programmer. Anyway, if there is interest in the said items or any questions about the information I provided, my email address is s.o.krates@web.de. I am looking forward to any response.

Kind regards

Oliver

Rather more than two weeks later I have made the glossary changes more or less as I suggested above (in the absence of any response). I can foresee that someone may object to the use of the 'Eng' instead of 'ng'. If so, kindly do not revert all my changes, either just change the engs back to 'ng', or ask me to. Thanks.
