The world's first helicopter specifically designed, tested and certified for repetitive external lift operations and vertical reference flight, an important feature for external load work. The aircraft's narrow profile gives the pilot an unprecedented view of the load looking out either side of the aircraft.

THe Mi-10 also happens to be derived from the Mi-6, hence it was not "specifically designed" (from scratch implied) for the mission. I think the statement stands as is. - BillCJ 17:19, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Where is Anton Flettner in all this? Kaman created his company in 1945 and Anton Flettner joined Kaman in 1947 as chief designer. later that year the first Kaman Helo emerged.
