Talk:Jumbo (2008 film)

Merger proposal edit

No other dubbed film on Wikipedia has a separate article from the original film. What makes this one different? If no-one has any objections, I will be merging this page into the other one soon. Esn (talk) 08:26, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I oppose the merger. As far as I know, this movie has a different soundtrack[if that even has one] which separates it from the original. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:18, 2 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

@Cyphoidbomb and Kailash29792: Can you look into this? We do obviously not feature separate articles for dubs/edits of animation films not sure how this has stood for so long. Please see if this can be merged into Khan Kluay. Gotitbro (talk) 15:41, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Gotitbro: Hi there, I personally don't think we need a unique article on dubs, however I feel like Kailash and I have spoken about this before and we disagreed with one another. This might need wider discussion at WT:FILM. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:52, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Cyphoidbomb: We're being unencyclopedic by keeping this article (even IMDb doesn't list this separately FWIW). A lot of backhandedness was involved with the release of this film, being promoted as a completely Indian production and what not until mid-day discovered that DVDs of the Thai film (of which this was a dub) were pulled down before its release in India. When asked about it, this was the half-baked response by the producers: "We have added some 60-odd scenes and sequences to the original with a love angle and all the other jazz to make the movie more appealing to every age." They have simply dubbed and edited a few sequences here and there that does not a new film make clearly not in animation. This is a Thai feature film by Kompin Kemgumnird and to have a dubbed version of it as a separate article is simply going against all the guidelines we have for films [this shouldn't be in contention].Gotitbro (talk) 16:12, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Gotitbro, merge. Because the changes are little. Kailash29792 (talk) 02:41, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Just wanted to clarify my statement above. Kailash and I didn't speak about this film in particular, just about whether dubs should get their own articles. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:15, 15 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
