Removed redlinked entries edit

Removed RedLink'd entries Each entry among the following should, when an article is written for it, be copied to the accompanying Dab page, and the copy struck thru.

  • * Joyce Benson in Angie (TV series)
info for editors: coverage in the series's article is less than a decent dictdef, and a cruel joke on anyone who would follow the lk.

Different kind of removal edit

There is no slightest mention of the song on the page:

* Joyce, song by Thomas Mapfumo and the Blacks Unlimited from the album Shumba - Vital Hits of Zimbabwe

Not every song has to be covered on WP; if you think this one is notable, write something about it.

Singling out people edit

You cannot just put one person here, no matter how famous. See for example Washington (disambiguation). There is no George there, but there is a "Washington, the stage name of Australian musician Megan Washington" per MOS:DAB: "People who have the ambiguous term as surname or given name should be listed in the main disambiguation list of the disambiguation page only if they are frequently referred to simply by the single name (e.g., Elvis, Shakespeare)". If you refer to Shakespeare, most people know who you mean. The same is not true of Joyce. Clarityfiend (talk) 19:53, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Same with Churchill (disambiguation). No Winston, even though he's the primary topic. Oops, bad example. Clarityfiend (talk) 19:54, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Must find examples where the person isn't the primary topic. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:10, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please see Bush, Taft, Dylan, Grant, etc. When there is someone particularly significant, they are often singled out. And I'm quite confused - Washington does single out George, right at the top of the article. Further, people do refer to 'Joyce' by his last name, as they do with many great authors. I just think it's quite silly to include an obscure Brazilian singer named Joyce who is of arguably notability, at any rate. James Joyce had 880,000 views in the past year, Joyce (singer) had 8,000. And, in any case, I did not add James Joyce, he has been here since ~2015. I just took off Joyce (singer). Admittedly I was not aware of that particular guideline, but I think a singer named Joyce Silveira Moreno can be well served by Joyce (name), even if she is sometimes called by her first name only. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 20:13, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
