Conflict of interest editing edit

I've added a conflict of interest tag to this article. This signifies to readers that the article has been extensively edited by someone with a conflict of interest, and is likely to have bias, in the form of missing negative content, overemphasis on "positives", non-neutral language (all of which are violations of the WP:NPOV content policy), and is likely to have unsourced or poorly sourced content, in violation of the WP:VERIFY content policy. It is likely that the content promotes the subject of the article, in violation of the WP:PROMO policy. Independent editors need to review the article and correct it, and then may remove the tag. If you do so, please leave a note here. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 02:42, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Tom Joule page

As the founder of Joules, whose own story is integral to the brand's creation and 26 year life, would it be appropriate to create a short wikipage on Tom Joule himself, detailing how and why he founded the business? A similar business, where this has happened on Wikipedia is british retailer Boden and its founder Johnnie Boden. --— Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.110.75.2 (talkcontribs) 12:24, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Lucy. Probably not a good idea, sorry. First, creating a page on your employer is strongly discouraged by Wikipedia as a conflict of interest, and I also don't see online much information showing that he's a notable person when considered separately to his company anyway. (By the way, there seems to be something wrong with your account login, as this post is credited to your IP address, not your account. I'm hoping this is the best way to reach you.) • Hi Blythwood, sorry I forgot to log in! I wasn't suggesting that I'd create and edit the page, I'm aware of the COI rules. Thank you for responding, and as a cOI user, I'll defer to you here obviously, however I do think that other similar eponymous founder/owner retailers have an extensive page despite arguably not being notable separate to the company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucywollam (talkcontribs) 14:24, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • @Lucywollam: - I just don't see information for independent notability, sorry, though here would be the right place to ask if that's what you've been told to do. If you simply want to improve the coverage of this company on Wikipedia, I think a valid way would be persuading Joules to donate one or two professional photographs of its products, as (say) Crew Clothing has. The only one I could find when I was looking on Flickr is not great. 16:25, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Awards

Joules won the Best Mainstream Brand of the Year at the 2016 Drapers Awards. Independent source: Drapers online https://awards.drapersonline.com/winners-2016 --— Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucywollam (talkcontribs) 11:32, 21 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Awards edit

Today, Drapers has announced that Joules has been shortlisted for the following 2017 Drapers Awards: Best Fashion Marketing Campaign Fashion Retail Business of the Year (£100m-£500m turnover) Mainstream Brand of the Year

Would it be possible to add the shortlisting to the awards section?

  • Hi Ms. Wollam. I think let's leave this until the award winners are confirmed. Shortlisting is less notable than winning so I think if it's OK I'd rather wait. Blythwood (talk) 17:36, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, in relation to above, Joules won the Fashion Retail Business of the Year (between £30m - £100m turnover) award at the 2017 Drapers Awards. Source: https://awards.drapersonline.com/winners Could the win be added to the page?

  • @Lucywollam:–yes, done. By the way, I think you may want to use the "request edit" template, rather than the COI template, since you've already posted that (you can also post the COI template on your user page if you prefer). Blythwood (talk) 17:45, 21 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
  • Apologies, the information above was slightly incorrect, Joules won the £30m-£100m category last year - the link hadn't been updated properly. Joules did in fact win two awards at the 2017 Drapers Awards: the Best Mainstream Brand of the Year Award and the Fashion Retail Business of the Year (from £101m-£200m) Award. Could this be updated accordingly? Source: https://awards.drapersonline.com/winners-2017 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.110.75.2 (talk) 17:53, 4 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, really sorry, I'm quiet new to talk page but wanted to know if I could get your help with this. Joules Clothing brand received a 'Mark of Excellence' for The Best Fashion Retailer at the Retail Week Awards 2018. I think I've got the coding right, let me know if not? Also copied a link for reference.

  • Hi Nellyakpaka, I think I can speak for several contributors here when I say I'm really getting a bit sick of the endless list of awards your team wants to put on this article-there seems to be no end to the number of retail brand awards out there and I've deleted the whole section now.
If you wanted a constructive way to contribute to this article, as I said to your colleague Lucywollam, one thing would be to waive rights to some photos of your client's stock and add them, as there don't seem to be a lot of royalty-free photos out there of this, assuming that's legally practical. Introduction edit

Joules recently released its 2017 full year financial results: http://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/news/market-news/market-news-detail/JOUL/13307427.html which declares that the business has 108 stores, and turnover was £157m. Would it be possible to update?

Hi there, the financials included within this article are three years out of date. Should these either be updated with the most recent audited full year results here: https://www.joulesgroup.com/media/1495/joules-group-plc_fy19-preliminary-results-2.pdf or indeed to take financial figures and store numbers from the page altogether?
