Macs15 has correctly changed Eleanor's maiden name from (née Davis) to (née Davies). This must have been her choice, since it accords with the cited source and most others. I would note, however, from authentic genealogies that her father's name was invariably spelt Joseph Davis--a spelling which appears to have been retained by Eleanor's seven siblings, one of whom (Joseph) founded Whitestone School in Herefordshire. Of course, the Welsh original was Ddafys or Dafis, the anglicisation of which left spellings open to choice by the many users, schooled and unschooled. One of Eleanor's famous relatives was the Rev David Davis, "Dafis Castell Hywell", (1745-1827) Arian minister at Llwyn-rhyd-owen, Ciliau Aeron, Allt-y-biaca, Pen-rhiw, Midroilyn and Bwlch-y-fadfa, school principal and poet, whose celebrated Welsh translation of Gray's Elegy has been said to be superior to the English version.
