Centuries? edit

Centuries to the placese have to be connected with establishement or with what?--Juan de Vojníkov 19:44, 31 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Have added a picture of the cemetery and will expand this article a little. However i am not a native to the City and input from anyone living in Prague would be good Collieman 13:10, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

WWII Ghetto? edit

I don't quite understand. Were Prague's Jews forced to live in a Josefov ghetto during the war, or were they all sent to Terezin, or... ? -- TheMightyQuill 17:10, 13 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Josefov ghetto dates to the middle ages and was dis-established well before the NAZI occupation. As it happens my Jewish great-grandmother's family still lived in Josefov under the occupation as the family plan printing business was located there but I don't know whether or not it was used as a ghetto by the NAZIs. She was transported to Terezin in 1943 (and martyred at Auschwitz later that year) along with many other Czech Jews. I hope this helps answer your question. Should we put these pictures onto wiki commons and then add the link ? Or maybe leave as is? Collieman 13:30, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Josefov (Prague)Josefov — The Jewish Quarter of Prague is the primary meaning of "Josefov", and significantly more notable than Fortress Josefov, the only other article sharing the name. A hatlink can redirect users to the fort. If you google josefov, the great majority of hits are about Prague's Jewish Quarter. YeshuaDavidTalk • 10:42, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. Fortress Josefov is better at that title, so no reason Prague's Jewish quarter shouldn't be at Josefov. Station1 (talk) 21:32, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - I think the primary usage is clearly for the district in this case. Knepflerle (talk) 16:40, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Update I did a search of Wikipedia just to make such there weren't important hits for "Josefov" not listed on the disambiguation page. I found 2 village stubs, and I've put them of the disambiguation page, so I'll request the disambiguation page be moved to "Josefov (disambiguation)".
