Notability tag edit

As of now, and for the four years since this article was written, it has been sourced entirely from an online family tree and Barbour's "Find A Grave" entry, neither of which meets the Wikipedia definition of a reliable source. An online search for "John Strode Barbour" turns up lots of references to his grandfather and uncle of the same name. For Barbour himself, I have trouble finding refs other than echoes of this article.

Nothing in his biography qualifies him under a specialty criterion like WP:POLITICIAN; neither being a small-town mayor for two years nor a delegate to a state constitutional convention rises to that level. And, of course, notability is not inherited or reflected; being the grandson of a congressman doesn't rub off on Barbour, nor does being the law partner of another.

Unless better sources can be found that establish this person's notability, this article may end up being referred for deletion. Rklear (talk) 16:55, 24 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I removed the notability tag because (although less noteworthy than some of his relatives) Barbour was a member of the Virginia Constitutional Convention of 1902, as well as has links to several historic sites. IMHO that Constitutional Convention is notable for its disenfranchisement of blacks and poor whites, as well as furthering his uncle John Strode Barbour's work in establishing the state's conservative Democratic political machine.Jweaver28 (talk) 16:34, 22 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
