John Mair → John Major (philosopher) – - per WP:COMMONNAME. This looks like a pretty open and shut case, if one peruses Google Books and Google Scholar, or even a general web search. The serious literature almost universally refers to this man as "John Major", with "John Mair" being a recent attempt to differentiate him from the prime minister of the same name. Wikipedia has better ways of disambiguating people, without re-writing history. (Incidentally, I do not dispute that his family name was "Mair", but like many scholars of that period, he was usually known by his Latin name.) Mais oui! (talk) 05:05, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Is it "Joannes Major" or "Joannes Maioris" in Latin??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.113.43.132 (talk) 01:01, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
