How is he a "conservative Republican"?

The article refers to Sen. Sununu as a "conservative Republican", but only cites his positions contrary to the Bush administration (and other conservative Republicans). I would be very interested to see some examples of where Sen. Sununu has adopted strongly conservative positions, in addition to the existing examples where he has not done so.

Otherwise, perhaps the designation should be changed to "moderate Republican", or at least be given further elaboration?

Even though Sen. Sununu is more of a libertarian conservative then a traditional one, he is still very far to the right. He has a 0% approval rating from NARAL; has voted consistently for free trade; has an A from the NRA; has one of the highest ratings from both the NTU and ACU; and he is also one of the few republicans that were conservative enough to vote against the Prescription Plan D act. Sen.

Yup. In 2004 Tsununu had a lifetime ACU rating of 95%. This put him among the most conservative in general, but doubly so for a New England Republican. In 2004 he opposed extending the "Assault Weapons Ban", opposed "an amendment broadening the categories covered by hate crimes to include crimes motivated by the victim's gender, sexual orientation or disability", and supported making it a criminal offense to injure or kill a fetus during the commission of a violent crime. In 2004 he received a 100% from both the John Birch Society, the American Conservative Union, the Eagle Forum, and the Christian Coalition.[1] (Considering their different interests I just sort of assumed this was impossible)--T. VP talk

journalnow.com mentions the possibility of being McCain's running mate. I only bring this up because it was mentioned on the 2008 N.H. election page. 71.243.156.198 20:44, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

"His father's ancestors came to the United States from the Middle East at the turn of the century"

"His father's ancestors came to the United States from the Middle East at the turn of the century"? But his father was born in Cuba. Did his father's ancestors move to Cuba from the United States? 69.62.243.48 (talk) 03:38, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Do we need all of these external links in this article? I hesitate to put a "link farm" tag on it, as they all seem somewhat helpful, but it would be nice if it could be trimmed down a bit. Joefromrandb (talk) 21:54, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
