Family & descendants? edit
Is there any research about John Bevis' family line? My mother's maiden name is Bevis, also, a tower at Arundel Castle on Britain's south coast is the Bevis Tower, named after a knight who is an ancestor of mine. Impossible for him to have observed edit
On the date listed. He observed the Occultation on May 25th 1737 NS, when Venus and Mercury were low on the horizon, at 4:30pm at Greenwich. He actually missed the closest approach, as Mercury and Venus would have set by then. However, England used the Old Style calendars at the time, so it would have actually been May 14th, 1737 OS.
Mercury and Venus were not far from Neptune at the time, and were in the constellation Gemini, close to M35.
Place of death edit
Any idea as to where he died? The SEDS page mentioned it was "from injuries" after falling off his telescope, but it doesn't mention where. CielProfond (talk) 12:49, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
