First African-American yes, but he did not break the "color line" edit

Noting that Gans was the first African-American champ is true, but misleading, and needs to be couched in a discussion of black boxing more generally. The "color line" was broken by George Dixon, an African-Canadian, fighting out of Boston in the 1890s. If not for Dixon, there would be no Gans.
