Proposed merge with Jigsaw (power tool) edit
- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
There's no possible justification for two articles on one kind of saw. A treadle-operated or belt-driven reciprocating saw is not intrinsically different from an electrically driven one. - It looks like some idiot couldn't find the right page for the jigsaw and decided to make one himself...Jigsaw (tool) was poorly written anyways so just merge them or delete Jigsaw Tool...It doesn't matter to me what you do just do something instead of sitting your lazy asses all day.
- I agree - suggesting there is such a thing as a non-powered (treadle or motor) jigsaw is perhaps to confuse it with a Padsaw or Keyhole Saw? Suggest also that Padsaw is included as an alternative name to Keyhole Saw in that articleDTOnline (talk) 15:45, 12 October 2014 (UTC)

- I tend to disagree - a hand jigsaw is more similar to a Fret saw than a powered jigsaw, which is handy for cutting straight lines as well as curves.The information in this article would be lost in a power tool article. Tony Holkham (Talk) 00:04, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- The taxonomy of saws seems to be irredeemably confused. Until it is sorted either with a new page or modifying an existing one, I cannot see the point of merging or demerging the lower order pages. The overview must be clear first. Local usages, manufacturers distortion of language and differences of opinion as to what is most significant about a particular saw could make even jigsaws go round in circles. - The taxonomy does seem confused. I created the article for the non-powered tool because the power tool article seemed to suggest that jigsaw puzzles were invented long before the tool used to make them. I initially tried rewriting the power tool article with the intention of moving it, but I realized that it wasn't actually describing the same thing. Mibblepedia (talk) 16:32, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
