Influences

What evidence is there that Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, Roy 'Chubby' Brown, Jim Jeffires or Frankie Boyle were influenced by Sadowitz? Boyle has said on record that he isn't a fan and I've never seen any of the other's listed even mention Sadowitz. If no evidence is provided, i think their names should be removed from the list.

TV series

Hi - he had a TV series on Channel 5 (UK) called something like People Vs Jerry Sadowitz - it also went to New York for maybe a one-off. Can anyone find the details? Not mentioned here (I think)

Removal of quotes

I personally can't imagine that Mr. Sadowitz (if this is indeed he) has any possible grounds to claim copyright infringement for the quoting of a few individual lines from public performances? --Stormie 01:05, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

It seems pretty clear that the few quotes on the page are being used to illustrate and critique Jerry's style and performance. While a listing of jokes with no other purpose would be a copyright violation, the use of a few selected quotes for the purpose of illustration and critique qualifies as fair use under US copyright laws. -Lanoitarus _^(talk) .:. 01:35, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Gobshite album

This was available for a while, probably only sold at gigs. I have a prized copy in my collection. Readers might also be interested to know that a copy was lodged with the National Sound Archive at the British Library (Catalogue: 1LP0007517 S1-2 GOBSHITE ).

Sadowitz also appeared in the music video of The Shamen's UK number 1 hit from 1992 "Ebenezer Goode", and helped get now-famous mentalist Derren Brown his first shows on Channel 4.

Razamatazz

Date of birth

Anonymous editors have changed the date of birth back and forth between 4 June 1961 and 4 November 1961. I can't find a good source either way with a quick Google. Can anyone provide a reliable answer as to which is correct? --Stormie 11:23, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I just exchanged emails with Jerry and he told me his birthdate is 04/06/61 and that he'd tried to change it but it had been reverted. Is an email from the subject of the page enough evidence for a correction? There is at least one source quoting the "correct" date available through a google search. Infobox

The 'subject' section of the infobox is to delineate the areas where Sadowitz is unique or unusual. Most comics riff about "Everyday life, Self-deprecation, Current events, History,pop culture,religion, old age, politics, Celebrities, Racism and Human sexuality". To add these to the infobox adds nothing to the article, isn't referenced in the article content and is overlinked. Wikipedia uses specific guidelines to help us create the most useful, well written and effective articles we can. Span (talk) 15:05, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

The infobox needs a clean-up. Janey Godley is the only one in the "Influenced" section that is supported by a source as far as I can see, and in the influences the given source for Steve Martin doesn't really support it, but just has Sadowitz commenting on a particular quote by Martin. The page itself is decidedly lacking in content: was it a sitcom? What specifically was so controversial about it? Date of birth (2)

I see a spread of sources, saying Sadowitz's date of birth is either 4 June or 4 November 1961. How should we best cover this conflict? John (talk) 11:06, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

I have just Googled ""Jerry Sadowitz, 61"", ""Jerry Sadowitz, 60"", ""Jerry Sadowitz" "4 June" 1961" and ""Jerry Sadowitz" "4 November" 1961" with quote marks. Between them, I can find exactly one reliable source, and that says Jerry's 61. Not conclusive, by any standards, but I say without better sourcing we should leave as is.--Launchballer 11:19, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

This source is used in the article to verify his date of birth but just gives it as "June 1961". I don't think we can or should go further than the best sources do, especially on an article on a living person. I took out quite a lot of stuff that had been marked as unsourced for longish periods on a similar basis. John (talk) 13:53, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
