Removal of railways section edit
@Primefac At first glance complete removal/blanking of the railways section completely seems extreme. Perhaps even an extreme reaction. Please review that action. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 03:57, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- The only supported statement in that paragraph is that he owns a company; lots of business people own businesses, so unless there's some significance to his ownership I didn't see any reason to keep just that part of the paragraph. The rest was unsupported by references and removed per WP:BLP. Primefac (talk) 11:43, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
- Did you actually check the references ... given one was offline ... Hosking's involvement in Railways heritage is pretty significant. This may be under altruism or whatever ... and the extent of his involvements are quite wide ranging. If you "didn't see the point" then you likely weren't weren't examing this carefully and I would have expected to have seen more diligence and I think the article's been left a little lop-sided.Djm-leighpark (talk) 13:41, 8 October 2020 (UTC) Additionally the what links here gives a clue as to the scope of his railway interests which I believe are significant. Perhaps could be under altruism or something. He also seems to have a finger in Crystal Palace FC. Section improvement may well have been in order; section blanking was likely disruptive as not in the scope of the summary. A separate consideration would have been approrpriatet. Thankyou. @Primefac: There is also the matter of content associated with with the reference "Steam Raiwlay, page 10, September 2016". There is the obvious spelling mistake "Steam Railway, page 10, September 2016" and the need to presume (probably) it refers to "Steam Railway Magazine" [1] published by Bauer Media Group, Peterborough. This was used to cite "In 2016, Hosking purchased a one-third stake in the Dartmouth Steam Railway plc which operates the Paignton to Dartmouth heritage line in Devon" when added at [2]. I have not seen the original source myself but I AGF the IP was not making it up. I did ask you if you had viewed the source yourself however you seem to have evaded the question. - The associated online source had issues and I haven't been able to recover it directly. I'm pushed for time so I've only been able to do dead-link marking and request to verify source. Anon IP's are welcome to suggest a precisely prescriptive update via {{request edit}} ... but it needs to be perfect with no issues to avoid volunteers wasting time and the slightist blemish may see it rejected.
