First non-american to fly to the moon? edit

Why does it say he'll be the first non-american to fly to the moon?  I'm pretty sure the Russians were there. Rmanke (talk) 16:40, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

No crewed Soviet or Russian spacecraft has flown higher than low Earth orbit. Indefatigable (talk) 17:01, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clarifying that. I learned something! 2604:3D08:327B:C140:2947:6514:6B17:98FA (talk) 17:04, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Height? edit

He's really tall for an astronaut. Is he the tallest? TomTrottier (talk) 22:58, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Astronaut? edit

Should Jeremy Hansen be called an astronaut if he has not yet flown in space? Seems like "Artemis crew member" is more accurate at this point. If the mission is cancelled or he is cut would he be an astronaut? Unknowntouncertain (talk) 21:47, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

WP apparently describes all persons selected for astronaut training as "astronauts" in the lede sections of their articles. Even the first sentence of the article on Duane Graveline, who famously resigned too soon to make the group photo (two months after his selection), reads, "Duane Edgar "Doc" Graveline (March 2, 1931 – September 5, 2016) was an American physician and NASA astronaut." Would be interesting to get the opinions of astronauts who have actually flown about this practice. Could you be a skydiver if you completed training but never jumped? Unknowntouncertain (talk) 23:16, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
