It read as an advertisement of what you could expect upon engaging the good doctor's services. I would be more inclined to leave a serious discussion of his methods if they were referenced from established texts (or referenced at all).--Bookandcoffee 03:37, 21 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I understand how the original article may have created this impression. However, Jay Haley has made a serious contribution to the subject and the views attributed to him can be found in numerous books. I believe Bookandcoffee's intervention is a little drastic, and I suggest the original material could be reinstated but in an improved style. --RichardVeryard 21:56, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Conceived in a log cabin on his family's homestead in Montana" seems very unencyclopedic. The tone of this article verges on hagiography in my opinion. Tjc (talk) 04:55, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Death edit

Do we have an official internet source for his death? I can't find any obituary anywhere. What is the WP policy about reporting death without verifiable source? --RichardVeryard 02:55, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re Confirmation of death: The New York Times of March 7th 2007 contains an obituary

June 19 Edit edit

I corrected the edit by Piano which incorrectly identified Jay as a psychotherapist. Jay prefered not to practice psychotherapy, and his contributions were made as a supervisor, author, editor and theoretician rather than as a direct practitioner.

My name is James Keim, MSW, LCSW, and I've added back to Jay's biography after it was severely shortened by a previous editor. I've got to ad some more references, and this should be completed soon. I have tried to stick to quotes by other in the field as I have a potential conflict: I am Jay's former son-in-law and also worked for him as his Director of Training at the Family Therapy Institute of Washington, DC. I hope that I've stuck to verifiable statements. I would also note that I am the co-author of one book on psychotherapy and have contributed chapters to eight other psychotherapy texts, including a number of summary chapters on Strategic Therapy, the model primarily developed by Jay Haley.
