Hi Antonin! I'll give a article a once-over, and as usual will post any queries or crits on this page. Regards. Haploidavey (talk) 12:37, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I don't think you need more than dates of birth and death in the intro. Have removed.
re: O.K., I´ve added complete birthdate, unfortunately I can´t find date of his death. --Vejvančický (talk) 09:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've lost the version of this page I was working on, but will try to recall my queries:

re: I think, that this is not usual trivia, the information is important, since composer Ježek was famous pre-war personality in the Czech culture.--Vejvančický (talk) 09:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • The "Brussels style" - is this so named because it represented a significant departure, first noted at the expo? Was it an international thingy? A little more info, please.
re: The "Brussels style" in the Czech design is notable period and deserves own article. Czechoslovak presentation at Expo58 in Brussels gained wide acclaim and products in the "Brussels style" were later a part of the furnishing in almost every Czech household. Especially Elka (pictured) was very popular. I have this book and I´ll add more.--Vejvančický (talk) 09:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've made some changes to the English. As ever, let me know if they've ridden roughshod over the substance! A bientot and whatnot... Haploidavey (talk) 13:22, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
re:Thun was a manufacture in this case, not a person. The rest is O.K. - thanks. --Vejvančický (talk) 10:53, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry - I lost the death details. I don't know how much you intend to expand the article, but I've pasted them in at the end - they read rather clumsily, but I'll wait until you've added more substance before I tinker any further.
re:I can´t find more precise info on his death, I will work on it. --Vejvančický (talk) 09:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Now remembering the other query: "summoned to the new development center located in Lesov near Karlovy Vary." Was this by invitation, application or promotion? What was the "new development centre - (I'm wondering whether it was industrial, state-run, educational?) Haploidavey (talk) 13:35, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
re:I think, that we can change it to ...he was called up..., it´s correct translation. The centre was industrial and state-run - everything was state-run in Czechoslovakia in that time :)). --Vejvančický (talk) 09:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Right. I think we can use "recruited" as an exact English equivalent, and put in "state run"; otherwise Anglo's like me will wonder ... I've edited the sentence again - flow is better. Haploidavey (talk) 16:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
But... do you know the name of the centre? Haploidavey (talk) 16:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
I agree with "recruited". --Vejvančický (talk) 08:47, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
One of my sources states, that ...the director of the porcelain manufactory in Klášterec nad Ohří established a developmental center in Lesov near Karlovy Vary. Unfortunately, the name isn't mentioned... --Vejvančický (talk) 08:47, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

OK. Will change.
  • I really think "Brussels style" needs an article, as you suggested above. At the moment, the article reads rather as if Ježek might have been applying "The Brussels style" in synthetic materials such as plastics, laminates and Formica. Before I make any changes, could you confirm that he stuck with ceramics and painting? Or were his designs applied to any of the new synthetics?
re: Added in my to-do list. I think it's important to describe the style generally also in this article, is it confusing? Otherwise, Ježek was ceramist and painter, and he didn't applied laminates and plastics in his works, as far as I know :) --Vejvančický (talk) 08:34, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

One more thing - Grand Prix is pretty damned impressive. Was he regarded as a leading figure - or even the leading figure - in the Brussels Style? Haploidavey (talk) 22:54, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

re:Czechoslovaks were awarded many prizes at Expo'58, and in many branches - architecture (Czech restaurant was later moved from Brussels to Prague, and today represents a notable example of the Czech architecture in 50s), industrial design, glass, textile, theatre (see Laterna Magika), film, graphic design, toys, jewels, furniture and other interior furnishing, and the ceramic and porcelain. Ježek was one of the leading figures, but together with many other artists.. --Vejvančický (talk) 08:34, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK. Copy-edit now reflects your info. Haploidavey (talk) 12:27, 2 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

DYK nom edit

I have nominated the article for the main page DYK section. Please check my hook here. --Vejvančický (talk) 10:53, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I missed that. Getting old and vague, I guess... Great stuff! Haploidavey (talk) 12:24, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
