wrong name

I propose renaming it to Janesville Assembly Plant.

That's what GM calls it. Janesville Assembly might be a nickname given by the workers. Either that or call it GM Janesville Assembly http://www.gm.com/corporate/responsibility/environment/news/2006/e85_wiscon_032206.jsp Voxtel (talk) 22:40, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

GM list's the plant as Janesville Assembly in its facility summary page. The EPA lists it as GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION - JANESVILLE ASSEMBLY PLANT. I certainly wouldn't call Janesville Assembly "wrong" but for an encyclopedia it might be better to have a name associating it with GM. Before the name gets changed, I suggest a standard naming convention be used so all the articles in Category:General Motors factories will use the same convention. Right now i see just Xyz assembly being the most used name, I wouldn't change this article to go against that convention unless all the article were also changed. Maybe WP:AUTOS would have a better idea for common names for these articles. --Dual Freq (talk) 01:49, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

2012 GOP Convention

On August 29, 2012 at the Republican Convention, Vice-Presidental Candidate Paul Ryan, congressman from Wisconsin stated: "My own state voted for President Obama, when he talked about change many people liked the sound of it. Especially in Jamesville where we were about to loose a major factory. A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant candidate Obama said, "I believe if our government is there to support you this plant will be here for another 100 years," that is what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out that plant didn't last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day."

It was then reported that the Democrates said that Paul Ryans facts were not correct that the plant actually closed in December of 2008 under President Bush. After fact checking they found that the plant isn't closed but on stand-by. It could have been reactivated anytime over the last 3-1/2 years if President Obama had made the effort with GM to do so but nothing in the Paul Ryan speech was factually untrue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lakeglenmiss (talk • contribs) 16:52, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
