A tad personal edit

This article has some notes that seem a bit personal; clearly it's being updated by someone who knows her, most likely a student, but it should adhere a bit more closely to the Wikipedia tone. In other words, "As a teacher she will be sorely missed" probably should not be here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.150.120.157 (talk) 19:53, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Starting Revision edit

Starting today, I will begin a revision of this article. I will address the concern noted above, sharpen the language, and update the bibliography. Rawlangs (talk) 15:57, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Minimizing mention of European Graduate School edit

I removed mention of her lecture at the European Graduate School. This lecture was given far too much weight in the article. Zwicky speaks at universities around the world on a regular basis. The only difference in this case is that the EGS created a staff page for her and posted some videos. If we listed every school Zwicky has ever spoken at, the introduction to this article would run many thousands of words.

I also moved the EGS staff page from the top of the external links section to the bottom. The page has not been updated since her lecture there in 2009. While the bibliographical information is accurate, it is two years out of date. The EGS page might be a useful research tool to some, so I have retained the link, but this wikipedia entry is and should continue to be a more current source of information on Zwicky. I deleted a link to a video on the EGS website, as this video is clearly linked from the first page of the EGS site making the link redundant.

I also believe that the wikipedia page is artificially inflating the page rank of the EGS staff page. Googling Jan Zwicky brings up first this wiki page, second the EGS page, and third an EGS video of her. It is not coincidence. The EGS page is the first external link people see, and thus the first one they click. By prioritizing the links more effectively (eg. placing links to primary texts by Zwicky above the EGS bio, mentioning her GG award before her guest lecture), this page will provide more relevant information more quickly to the average reader. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rawlangs (talkcontribs) 17:41, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

query from subject of article edit

Hello,

When my name is googled, the 'sketch' that comes up (in a little box, with photos, to the right of the main hits) includes both a 'Spouse' and a 'Partner', listing the same person. This is redundant.

Please list my spouse —after— Education.

Please make the boxed sketch fit the format of other such sketches by adding a second sentence to the description. I suggest something like: "Her publications include Lyric Philosophy, Wisdom & Metaphor, and Songs for Relinquishing the Earth".

Thanks for your attention to these requests,

Philosophy section edit

The first paragraph of the philosophy section in this article is possibly the most impenetrable and esoteric example of word salad I've encountered on wikipedia. I'd edit it, but I don't know what any of it means. It's only my opinion, but I don't think it works for an encyclopedia.
