Way too many pictures

@Nomu420: You added way too many pictures. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout#Images, Wikipedia:Image dos and don'ts, and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images for more information.

As a general rule, if I can see more than one or two pictures on the screen at a time not counting the one in the infobox, that's too many.

A common exception is if more than one image is the "subject of critical commentary" (that is, it's not there just to show a picture of something discussed in the article) and as a result I can see more than one image on the screen. I don't see any images that would qualify under this exception, nor would I expect to see any in an article of this type. Another exception, which should NOT be over-used, is if the image is critical to understanding something mentioned in the text. The Mausoleum, the main campus building that is most-commonly identified with the university, maybe one or two other buildings, and maybe the Bab-e-Maulana Mahmood Hasa would qualify under this exception, but only if the image itself or the thing the image is a picture of (e.g. the building itself, not the school that it housed) was specifically mentioned in the article. Barring such exceptions, please keep the images spaced apart so that readers with average-sized computer screens only see 1-2 images at a time, not counting the single image that is in the infobox that is used to "identify" the institution (currently this image is File:Jamia Millia Islamia Logo.svg).

Please go back and trim out the images. I would suggest no more than 5-6 images on the whole page not counting the infobox, with a limit of 1 image for most "two equal-sign-level" sections (including their sub-sections) and no more than 2 or 3 in the "Faculties and centres" section and sub-sections combined, with no more than one in any given sub-section.

Even though Wikipedia supports galleries, they are not appropriate for this type of article. The {{commons category}} template achieves the same purpose. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:03, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

I've cut down the number of pictures. I don't think any section has more than one image now. I have no objection of replacing the images I left with the images I deleted, but try to keep it down to no more than 1 per section and try not to increase the total number of pictures used in the article as long as the article stays at its current size. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:41, 27 March 2014 (UTC)

Jamia Millia Islamia Translation

The Translation and Original Name of Jamia Millia Islamia is "National Muslim University" - One can simply go to the university and look at the old books in the library. They all carry the name "National Muslim University". It makes sense as Jamia was created by leaders of the Khilafat Movement to show their displeasure with the British as it was they who supported the other Muslim university - Aligarh Muslim University. It is not "Community National University" 2001:A61:2428:3F00:559E:BC8:8916:D3FC (talk) 21:23, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jmi logo.gif

Image:Jmi logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Faculty Of Engineering And Technology/Jamia Millia Islamia

After removing the copyright violations, there wasn't much left of Faculty Of Engineering And Technology/Jamia Millia Islamia so I turned it into a redirect to Jamia Millia Islamia#Faculty Of Engineering And Technology. I am going to ask an administrator to [[WP:REVDELETE|delete the revisions of that article that contained copyright violations. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 02:36, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Muhammad Ali Johar was one of the founding members and first vice chancellor of the Jamia. But it is not mentioned anywhere in the page.
