Possible link to James Young Simpson's items on “Himetop – The History of medicine topographical database” edit

I suggest that somebody, interested in this page, could insert an external link to the following page describing, with pictures, some James Young Simpson's memories: http://himetop.wikidot.com/james-young-simpson

I don’t do it myself because I’m also an Administrator of this site (Himetop) and it could be a violation of the Wikipedia Conflict of Interest policy. Thanks for your attention.

Christian edit

Simpson was a devout Christian which is notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.153.187.119 (talk) 00:44, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Source? And one's religious beliefs, unless religion is their profession, is actually very not important for a basic biography. — raekyt 17:19, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Puerperal infections and antiseptics edit

"(...) like Semmelweis, fought against the contagion of puerperal sepsis.".

How did he fought against the contagion of puerperal sepsis? Do you have a source for this? From what I read in "The Century of the Surgeon" by Jürgen Thorwald, Simpson was fighting Joseph Lister who discovered Antiseptics - "used his professional stature to ridicule Lister's [antiseptic] method as a hoax" (http://www.victorianweb.org/science/health/simpson.html).

A lot of woman might die because self-important James Simpson was challenging use of antiseptics.

I would say that James Simpson contributed to the contagion of puerperal sepsis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Woru87 (talkcontribs) 09:14, 13 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

A niece's memories edit

Hardly notable, but some may find these recollections of his niece Helen Young Simpson (c. 1836 – 10 April 1920) interesting. Doug butler (talk) 03:32, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Should Religion/Religious Views be given its own [sub] section? edit

Provided that the section on Simpson's religion is long enough, should it have its own section/subsection? Spodogo (talk) 20:48, 4 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
