I don't think this is suitable for speedy deletion under A7 - have added link to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography article. Would note a large number of hits for books by or mentioning this person [1] Think this could be expanded successfully will try and look back at it later if no one else does -Hunting dog (talk) 08:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

He was a prolific writer with a number of notable contributions; I'm more interested in his works than his bio, but will fill out the article so as to avoid the suspicion that he was not notable (prefer that someone else did it, but that's unlikely).
