Inventor discussion

Other sources mention Candido Jacuzzi as an inventor. Could it be that some Candido brothers invented a prototype, while Roy finalized the invention and patented it? Or other versions of the history of the invention? Mikkalai 20:56, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The whole history section is removed as copyright violation; the same copyvio as in the Roy Jacuzzi article. Mikkalai 20:59, 26 Dec 2004 (UTC)

So what is the issue of factual accuracy that requires the warning in the article? I'm removing that tag for now. Anyone is welcome to replace it, but please specify what the issue is here on the talk page. -Rholton 04:34, 2005 Feb 20 (UTC)

The issue is with the name of the inventor, it is perfectly clear. Some time ago there was a ever war. the phrase "one say roy, other say candido" is only an illusion of NPOV. there is only one person who was granted patent. Mikkalai 04:57, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
A search of U.S. patents from 1976 to the present reveals that Roy holds a number of patents on whirlpool baths and related items, while Candido holds none. I have not yet been able to look through pre-1976 patents (I lack the plugin and connection speed necessary to view the images), though they are available online if anyone cares to search. —Charles P. (Mirv) 20:33, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I think the pronunciation of Rachele should be replaced with IPA. It assumes a vowel merger that many people do not have. 78.147.107.35 (talk) 01:28, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

"Rachele" Jacuzzi? A woman's name (the English equivalent being Rachel)? Could someone check this?Seamus O'Halloran 20:23, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

(—Charles P._(Mirv) 06:01, 2 November 2006 (UTC)) from my talk page, by User:Pajacuzzi @ 21:34, 30 October 2006 :

My grandfater and his brothers were the the original seven Jacuzzi Brothers. Rachele (Male), pronounced "rock-elly" was the the reason for the start of the "Jacuzzi Brothers" company. It all began whith the develpoment of the first closed cabin monoplane, which after a catastophic faliure caused it's demise, the brothers found their niche with production of agricultural equipment, specifically deep well submersible injector pumps.

Candido Jacuzzi invented the submersible (in-bath)jet pump in the mid 1950's to help his son Kenny who suffered with rheumatiod arthuritis.. Later, in 1967 candido applied for, and recieved the patent (3,297,025) for the self containd whirlpool bath. Roy, who is the only jacuzzi Family member who still is associated with Jacuzzi, Inc. has made many false claims and failed to correct other misinformation on the inventions origination.

Jason International, Inc. (jasoninternational.com) is the ONLY whirlpool bath manufacurer which has Jacuzzi family members as it's owners.

History vs. Today

Why is the Today section a wordy retelling of the History section? Lars T. 06:51, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Too much material in this article reads like an advertisement. It probably needs some cleaning up to make it more encyclopedic. AVM 16:27, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

The article really sounds like it was written by an entry-level marketing peon.

Does anyone objective know enough about these things to rewrite this? If I wanted a Jacuzzi brochure, I'm sure I could have found one on their website. This is supposed to be an encyclopedia; I object to having to read through marketing schpiel about this and that patent whilst searching for basic facts, I'd have gone to their site for this text if I wanted to hear all this! —Preceding unsigned comment added by JeffroMcB (talkcontribs) 21:12, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Jacuzzi-logo.png

Image:Jacuzzi-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Has a jacuzzi ever been sold or used without heat and for what purpose

I am looking for input to a discussion I am having with my landlord currently in regard to renewing my lease. I am looking to get my rent lowered for a couple of reasons. One, is there is a in-ground pool/jacuzzi(or whirlpool or spa) as one unit. I was told the jacuzzi worked. I took that to mean the spa jets and the heater worked. I later found the heater for the pool & jacuzzi was broken and had been for several years. my landlord's arguement is that the function of a jacuzzi is the water jets and that not all are sold with heating units. I would appreciate any insight to the truth of that statement. Has anyone ever heard of a jacuzzi or a whirlpool or a spa being sold or used without heat. What purpose would that serve?

I appreciate your response. thanksPamsdictionary (talk) 21:03, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Whirlpool?

Another Wiki article [[1]] refers to Whirlpool as a brand name, like Jacuzzi. Which is wrong? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JeffroMcB (talkcontribs) 21:28, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Sex change

"Rachele (pronounced "rah-KEH-leh"), began making aircraft propellers, inspired by an airshow she saw at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in nearby San Francisco. They designed a unique propeller known as the "Jacuzzi toothpick." Rachele and his brothers" So, he or she? TREKphiler hit me ♠ 23:07, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Delete Paragraph

In the section "History", it says:

"The J-300 pump was portable and could be placed in any bath enclosure. The medical community recognized the benefit of this product for their hydro-therapeutic programs.[citation needed] Physical therapists and orthopedists prescribed their use in clinics and in the home.[citation needed]"

I added these two "citation needed" over a month ago, and no citation has been forthcoming. I therefore propose deletion of this paragraph, as it is blatant advertising, making totally unfounded medical claims. Darkman101 (talk) 01:24, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

As there have been no objections, I have have now deleted the paragraph. Darkman101 (talk) 19:38, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

What proportion of the hot tub market do they have ? There should be some comment about "jacuzzi" being (incorrectly) used generally for hot tubs. -- Beardo (talk) 16:30, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Agree. Before I came here I didn't even know that "Jacuzzi" was a brand name! To me, "a jacuzzi" is simply the name for the warm whirlpool bath. Now learning that it's actually a brand name, then it's obvious that it's a genericised trademark. It's therefore a glaring omission from this article that this fact is not mentioned.
