Section on Rating System edit

Is it appropriate to have that section on the rating system in Valenti's bio? Seems like a link to either MPAA#Rating system or MPAA film rating system would be more appropriate. The info provided in the section Jack Valenti#Movie Rating System is rather sketchy, and that there's not much point in maintaining two (or three!) different writeups of the MPAA rating system. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cgranade (talkcontribs) 18:17, 8 October 2006

Death announced this afternoon and we've got vandals edit

How do I move to get this page protected from new and unregistered users? -- Nick Douglas 01:22, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

ReyBrujo took care of it; we should be vandal-free for a few days until Valenti fades out of the news. Editor Emeritus 02:31, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
He was the worst person ever alive, and screwed the whole world through US government by lobbying for copyrights. He sure was important to vandals :) Anyway, now that he is dead, he is no more a "living person" by the definition of dying, and I propose to remove BLP tags and cats.18jahremädchen 07:52, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have just the following to say ....

celebrate! celebrate! celebrate! Raise a toast the bastard is dead !!

Well almost...the Prince of Darkness has announced that

Valenti shall be forced to a face an MPAA submission review over

and over and over for 100,000 years !!!

God bless The Devil for bringing the world Justice !!

WELL SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.51.11.171 (talk) 03:12, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

What did his tombstone say? In one of his interviews he expressed, "I don't know what's going to be on my tombstone harry but I'd like to write it and say, "That the modest legacy that Jack Valenti left the movie industry was he freed the screen from all artificial barriers." I was just wondering if anyone knows if this happened or not. OttOO 20:37, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

MAY HE ROT IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND HIS FAMILY SOON JOIN HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

The Madeira School edit

One of his children is listed as going to the Madeira. Why is the reference to the Madeira school in this article? What importance is it? How about the schools of his other kids? How about their colleges? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwinog2777 (talkcontribs) 15:56, 27 April 2007

More Vandals edit

Just letting you guys know that somebody has changed Valenti's occupation to "coffin stuffer". I personally didn't like Valenti, but I respect the standards of Wikipedia, so I compromised: I'm not going to change it. Somebody else can. here7ic 17:01, 6 May 2007

Honors edit

Concerning the MPAA's building being named for him and his office space on the 8th floor. I know this first hand as I briefly worked in the office across from him and his assistant introduced herself when we moved in. I also ran into him in the elevator on occasion. 69.140.38.97 23:42, 27 August 2007 (UTC)JGReply

More Pics edit

I'm tempted to add "the other" picture of the event described, but I resist it. I was surprised & interested to learn that was Valenti on the plane with LBJ. The "other pic" is "The Wink", and isn't that Bill Moyers on the far right side? --ProudPrimate 20:41, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Post Presidential Career edit

I think it is only fair that Mr.Ford was sat on the board of directors of many corporations, earning a great deal of money. The article makes it sounds as though he dedicated his life to public and intellectual pursuits. He was widely criticized for his "money grab", and eventually became more philanthropic. It is important that the careers of ex-presidents be put into a correct perspective. This article fails to do this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.48.215.161 (talk) 00:37, 3 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Criticism edit

User:Pfranson, tell me, why do you marked my edit as 'vandalism'? Will you remove any sign of criticism from this article? He is no more living. A balanced article should expose more about the criticism involving him. Maybe not in the form I posted, but, some discussion about this topic. I think this is relevant.

I know my references were a bit bogus. And my wording didn't helped either. But I see many blogs and so on commenting his death that way. He is not very popular in the blogosphere, capiche? --187.40.232.116 (talk) 19:07, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I didn't feel comments made were in keeping with the neutral point of view (NPOV) requirements of Wikipedia, and, frankly, the wording came off as vandalism, especially when made from an unregistered IP address. Go ahead and put it back if you feel -- I won't revert it this time, but I certainly can't promise that one of the Admins won't. You might want to pull some articles out of that DIGG, rather than just pointing to the DIGG itself for source. Pfranson (talk) 19:17, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for you reply. I guess I will wait for more feedback then. --187.40.232.116 (talk) 19:46, 8 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

You might consider making a registered user. There are a whole bunch of people who watch updates by ip addresses very carefully. Pfranson (talk) 01:47, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, this is considered original research, and I'll be forced to remove it if it is added back. In order to make this statement, it needs to come from non-op ed pieces that are reliable sources. Essentially, you have no proof that "he is not very popular in the blogosphere". This is not equivalent to simply pointing to a blog or multiple blogs praising his death. Brian Reading (talk) 02:41, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

(VPRO Import) This film is not yet rated edit

In the documentary/film This film is not yet rated by Kirby Dick I saw that Jack Valenti pushed (I'm not a native English speaker so excuse me for some weird English) some laws about copyright through, one of which said that baking a cake with Mickey Mouse on it could get you a fine of USD150.000 and a sentence of 5 years. There were other extremely harsh measures concerning the copyright issues etc. Anyhow, where can I check the laws that Jack Valenti is responsible for? Thanks 81.68.255.36 (talk) 19:51, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Portrayal in Jackie edit

I added that part about his being portrayed in Jackie. 73.55.181.5 (talk) 07:18, 30 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Even more vandals? Dance on Jack Valenti's grave day and 10th anniversary so... edit

Tempted to do it myself, got to admit. But that would just punish Wikipedia for reporting on what a d-bag this guy was for all those years. I suggest a pre-emptive lock for the next 24 hours. 50.206.59.42 (talk) 00:10, 27 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

arlingtoncemetery dot net edit

This website has been removed from the article – http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jjvalenti.htm. It is a non-RS webpage based on its WP:SPS and WP:LINKVIO. It does list the Washington Post as a source, but we should use the actual Post stories. Also, it is not secure because it lacks a HTTPS url. Please do not cite it in the article.. – S. Bombing missions? edit

Having a really hard time verifying that he flew bombing missions is WW2, not a single one. 47.144.16.66 (talk) 17:57, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
