Gender Identity and Appropriate Pronouns edit

Although J. Alexander is frequently referred to by feminine pronouns he has never publicly identified as transgendered. He has explicitly stated in the press that he is both male sexed and of the male gender. (If you do not understand the difference, please read the article on Transgender.) Unless an acceptable citation is given refuting this, it is policy that a person be identified on Wikipedia with pronouns that match his or her publicly disclosed gender. In this case that would mean MALE PRONOUNS. The article formerly used female pronouns and has been changed accordingly. This was especially confusing considering the section of the article discussing Alexander's biological child in which male pronouns were used without any information explaining the change. CouplandForever (talk) 09:15, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • Even though the issue was raised previously in 2012, someone has reverted all MALE PRONOUNS back to female pronouns as of 26 April 2016. Again, J. Alexander is a homosexual male and not a transgender female. Again, the Transgender article should clear this up. Female pronouns will be reverted back to male. If re-reverted, please provide a source for the change. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:246:C400:B059:558F:DFC8:726C:52D7 (talk) 01:04, 27 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Jay/J. redux edit

IMDb seems to have two entries, one under J. Alexander and one under Jay Alexander. I listed both for now. Jokestress 06:08, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Teen Choise edit

Don't forget to add a award-section. He won a Teen Choise Award this year (09). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.246.223.196 (talk) 09:16, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

– J. Alexander is the highest-visited article of the three listed on the disambiguation page, and is the only one to go by simply J. Alexander (the restaurant is spelled J Alexander's, while the magician is spelled Jay Alexander.) I ask that the disambiguation page be renamed only for the technicality, although I feel that with only three articles listed on it, it doesn't serve a real purpose, especially since none of the articles have seen particularly high traffic. If this proposal is to go through, I would suggest replacing the disambiguation page with a hatnote at the top of all three articles, which I feel would be more effective for navigation. •   Disagree and oppose. Disambiguation page is better. Mama meta modal (talk) 15:04, 23 February 2014 (UTC).Reply
  • Support, borderline speedy, as a disambiguation page with only one valid matching title. "See also" listings for rough misses don't factor into the disambiguation question at all. bd2412 T 05:07, 24 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. John Alexander and James Alexander, for instance, can also be referred to as J. Alexander. Many of them are far more prominent than anything here. It's just far too generic to have a primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 23:15, 26 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Necrothesp. "J. Alexander" has many other meanings, and this one is not primary. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:04, 1 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Necrothesp. Many potential meanings for this ambiguous term. Xoloz (talk) 19:08, 6 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Necrothesp. J. Alexander's aside, Google Books has all kinds of "J. Alexander"s. Page visits show the current "(model)" is helping and working. In ictu oculi (talk) 23:14, 13 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
