Possible alpha decay of ²⁶⁸Db

It is an energetically feasible possibility, since this would have happened after the beam was turned off. ²⁶⁴Lr would be produced, which would not undergo alpha decay; it would either undergo spontaneous fission, or electron capture to form the short-lived spontaneous-fissioning ²⁶⁴No. But none of this would have been observed. It is also quite possible (see the original paper on the synthesis of ²⁸²Nh) that ²⁶⁶Db has an alpha branching that would lead to the well-known ²⁶²Lr, and thence perhaps to ²⁶²No (quick SF) or the long-lived ²⁵⁸Md; that would have been the first demonstrated connexion from the "hot fusion island" to the nuclear mainland. But it is quite difficult to observe the long-lived alphas. Double sharp (talk) 06:29, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
