Notability and other Wikipedias

On the English Wikipedia the typical outcome for high school AFD cases is that they are notable. I intentionally develop articles on senior high school/sixth form/age 14/15-19 schools since the outcome is to keep as long as there is evidence that they actually exist. However this is only the case on the English Wikipedia.

Other Wikipedias are more stringent, so when I write in Spanish and French I try to find articles written about the school so it passes WP:GNG or their equivalent. What I may do with this school is look for such articles to see if it can pass notability thresholds on other Wikipedias.

In the meantime here are possible targets based upon the school's brochures:

• Chinese (Archive): - Chinese name: "苏黎世北部国际学校"
• Russian (Archive): - Russian name: "Интернациональная школа - Zurich North

These are certain issues that have occurred to my Wikipedia page. I am unable to identify these errors in my Wikipedia content, kindly highlight these in my wiki page content as well as suggestion of resolving it

This article contains content that is written like an advertisement. (September 2016) This article includes a list of references, but its sources remain unclear because it has insufficient inline citations. (September 2016) This article contains wording that promotes the subject in a subjective manner without imparting real information. (September 2016) This article needs additional citations for verification. (September 2016)

There are several issues here. First of all, your username violates Wikipedia's username policy because it's the name of an organization. Wikipedia does not allow shared or "company" accounts, and accounts that give the impression that they might be shared are routinely blocked. You should request a change of username. If you want your username to be associated with this school, a username such as "John at ISZN Zurich" will be acceptable. Please also take a moment to take a look at the Terms of Use and make sure you comply with the disclosure requirements laid out in the section on "Paid contributions without disclosure".

Secondly, this is not "your article"; it may be an article about an organization you work for, but that does not award you any special rights or privileges regarding this article.

Regarding the "written like an advertisement" problem, the current article is basically one huge "Look how great we are" sign. For example: "ISZN's Kindergarten and primary education programs (Primary Years Programme) are approved by the bureau for elementary school" - well, they better be; I'm pretty sure running an unapproved kindergarten is against the law. So this - and the entire rest of the "By Swiss Authorities" subsection is a fancy way of saying, "This is really a school and not a scam" (except when that can't be said). The "history" section speaks more of what the school aims to do and wants to be than of what it was - apparently the only significant events in the school's history are its buildings. Even those events are not backed up by reliable third-party sources such as articles in the Neue Züricher Zeitung.

That leads right to the next problem: Much of the content was not backed up by footnotes pointing out which reference (if any) it was based on. Much of that has by now been removed, but much of what's left still suffers the same problem. (That's also what the "needs additional citations for verification" tag is about).

The "wording that promotes the subject in a subjective manner" tag refers to such phrases as "multi-cultural", "study material created from research and national and international teaching systems" (so they didn't just make it all up? Wow, I'm relieved), "modern building", "established worldwide standard" and so on. Huon (talk) 18:51, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Just as a side remark: The wording about the accreditation is following a convention we applied to most private school in Switzerland articles and is mainly based on my own approach. I tried to be as official, detailled, precise, and neutral as possible. So, from my point of view, there is no problem about advertising with respect to the accreditation paragraphs. And no, the legal regulations about schools are not the same in each canton. So it is indeed a bad example for the "written like an advertisement" problem. But the rest of some text could be less "optimistic" and in more neutral tone by providing facts instead of advertising advantages, which is actually a general problem with private schools. ZH8000, do you mean there are primary schools operating in Switzerland that are not accredited by the relevant authorities, or is this just meant to point out what the authority relevant to this particular school is? The former seems incredible, and the latter would likely be better dealt with by a list of school accrediting agencies in Switzerland, particularly since I assume there's only one per canton. To me all the section says is, "This is really a school, but it does not provide a Matura." If it means to provide more information beyond bureaucratic details that are not relevant to the school itself, I don't see it. Huon (talk) 22:36, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi Huon, first of all, it is about (, Kindergarten), primary schools, lower secondary, and upper secodary schools. And yes, there are examples of international schools that are not accredited, such as the Italian school examples in Zurich as found in the {{International Schools in Switzerland}} template (this list is by far not complete), or accredited in a different manner, such as the École Française de Bâle in Basel. Regarding upper secondary schools these is even widespread. And an upper secondary school does not necessarily need to lead to a Matura in order to be accredited, neither. And yes, the authorities are often called differently, since the respecting laws are of a canton's subject. And finally, it is helpful to any interested person to know how the authorities are called regarding their schools of interest, since every canton organizes its school authorities independently. But yes, if you like to list the authorities in one article, there is no reason not to do it, not at all. -- ZH8000 (talk) 08:42, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
