Have they changed / updated the P45 chipset?

When i first read the reviews of the P45 Vs say a X38 or X48 chipset...The reviews all said that the P45's PCI-Express is 16X for the first card but with Crossfire, once you add a second card or more they all go to 8X speed.

However in articles such as this: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=653 It makes no mention of that despite referencing the graphics cards/supports.

-OR- in a recent Foxconn mobo that i read the specs for both on the sellers site (n.egg) and the manufacturers site, the 3 X Crossfire PCI-Express setup does not list them as anything but 16X.... but on the same site in the past they have been carefull to note the with one graphics card the speed is (1-16X) but when using 2 or more graphics cards in crossfire they become (2-8X) or (3x8X etc). So is this a "Mistake" on the part of the manufacturer's information page. OR are some Intel P45 motherboards 16X for 1, 2, and 3 cards in Crossfire mode. This is frustrating I was hoping Wikipedia would have a full layout of the situation. I can't seem to find the information spelled out the web anywhere, based on the first reviews, I thought it was going to be necessary to buy a more costly X38 or x48 motherboard but now i don't know if that's true or not.

Eaglelake (e.g., P45 MCHs) supports only 16 PCI-E lanes so for CrossFire it would have to run split to two ×8. Bearlake (e.g., X38 and X48 MCHs) actually supports 32 PCI-E lanes so can run two full ×16 in CrossFire. Both Eaglelake and Bearlake MCHs support PCI-E 2.0 (though the ICH9 usually paired with Bearlake only supports PCI-E 1.1, unlike the ICH10 used with Eaglelake which supports PCI-E 2.0). 67.51.67.202 (talk) 18:30, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
