Nearly all of this article is copyvio. edit

Much content of this article was copied from ID's website. The opening paragraph from the opening paragraph of ID's overwiew page, the History section from its history page verbatim, "People" from the overview page's "people" section, "Graduate Programs" and "Programs" from programs overview, "Faculty" lifted from ID faculty page verbatim. I cannot see the source for "Conferences," "Institute of Design former names and locations" and "Prominent Alumni" Sections However. Much of this article has to be rewritten for copyright purpose-- or the copyright owner allowed this to be here? --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 11:34, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The article has been copyvio from the beginning. The editor who started the article in December of 2005 had the user name Ider (suggesting someone from the school) and made only three contributions to WP-- twice at this article and once on the main IIT article to put a wikilink to this article. My guess is that Ider was either a student or an employee of the Institute who thought the campus deserved its own page here (as an advertisement?) but who didn't want to take the time to write anything original. As the school hasn't complained about the copyvio which has been here more than a year, they probably won't complain in the future either. Still, it ought to be rewritten for the sake of WP originality. Wikipedia shouldn't be serving as an echo chamber for the school's praise of itself. Whyaduck 23:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
But what should I do? I just came by and is not really interested in the content... Should I nominate copyvio myself?--Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 00:55, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm restoring most of it. Just remove the parts that are a copyvio. It doesn't look like the whole article should be deleted and the site you linked doesn't directly show a word for word copy and paste for parts of the article. Remove the copyvio and go from there. --Dual Freq 23:19, 7 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

What is not copyvio is just the list of alumni. And have you really read my sources...?--Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 02:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Some Wikipedia content copied to fill in the void in History. This article needed to be nominated for stub. --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 12:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Merge New Bauhaus to Here edit

I checked New Bauhaus, and there is no new information to that short article compared to this article. Since the Institute of Design is the direct descendent of the New Bauhaus, I nominate that article to be merge into here. --Samuel CurtisShinichian-Hirokian-- TALK·CONTRIBS 12:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. The original New Bauhaus can easily be covered in the introductory paragraph of this article. Whyaduck 01:13, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
