I have several observations about this article

  • The following statement appears to be original research

As a modern avatar of Carnegie's treatise on philanthropic responsibility, IFUC puts a premium on volunteer administration and seeks to avoid the inertia sometimes found in more professionalized nonprofit infrastructures. This emphasis on a more flexible, less-bureaucratic approach has allowed IFUC to form relationships with a network of unconventional sources of financial support -- the money from which finds its way to satisfying the publicly announced mission of the Institute rather than paying off administrative expenses.[2] By default, sponsoring 'unpopular' culture courts a certain amount of risk.

  • The article claims the Institute for unpopular culture is a "non-profit alternative". This is unclear. Their website says they are a 501(c)(3). However, they do not appear in Publication 78, which is a list of registered tax-exempt organizations What exactly is a non-profit alternative? To what are they an alternative?
  • What does "help launch" mean in the context of what IFUC did for the Punk Rock Orchestra. Please provide citations.
  • The citation to Barry McGee is simply an article that states the same

'uwishiwasjohng' is attacking IFUC Founder David Ferguson edit

The request for deletion of the IFUC article should be dismissed immediately. The user above, 'uwishiwasjohng', has engaged in a 3-month attack on David Ferguson (impresario)'s article. This attack has taken the form of posting and maintaining a Legal History section that included a number of court cases deemed petty and defamatory by other WP users. The Legal History section was removed.

'uwishiwasjohng' rampant COI re: IFUC founder David Ferguson. 'uwishiwasjohng' was a party in multiple court cases found in the Legal History section. More damning is 'uwishiwasjohng's own admission to this COI -- an acknowledgment that he has twice made, most recently on Orderinchaos's talk page:

I'd like to speak up here for myself because it appears that I'm being lumped in with a soapbox campaign. I, like Dori, have actually been attempting to validate these citations and even went to the public library to find some of the harder to find stuff. I put in the legal cites with copious sites based on feedback I got from a neutral review from another Wikipedian. I clearly misunderstood the "precendent" around WP:PRIMARY but as soon as User:Orderinchaos gave me what I thought was the first reasoned argument I heard, I backed down. Yes, I'm passionate. Yes, I have WP:COI because I personally know David Ferguson and quite frankly dislike him. I'm willing to just stop, but I figured anyone going up against User:DrJamesX needs help. But if you all think I'm just hurting the cause, let me know. -- Uwishiwazjohng (talk) 03:43, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

By virtue of this bald-faced admission and the ongoing campaign of 'uwishiwasjohng' to discredit Ferguson's professional and personal reputation, please dismiss the IFUC deletion request DrJamesX (talk) 19:25, 14 February 2009 (UTC)DrJamesXReply

DrJamesX,
You are on the discussion page. There is no one else here. If you want to oppose the deletion, it is here -- Uwishiwazjohng (talk) 05:27, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
