ISITV is definitely not a "grande ecole" (elite school outside the university system) as, although quite prestigious, it's not an elite school and it is indeed within the frame of the university system (quite literally as it also is on the campus of the University of Toulon). Not true: The grandes écoles are higher education institutions outside the main framework of the French university system and select students for admission based chiefly on national ranking in competitive written and oral exams. In fact, all engineering schools in France, recognized by the State, is a grand école. see the link below (in French, but with google translate, you should get the general meaning).
