Clean up edit

I removed some of the more blatant assertions which were either POV or impossible to find a reference for. This article needs substantial bulking and additional references before it even meets start class criteria. Copana2002 (talk) 22:45, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Requested move edit

Indian community of LondonBritish Indian community of London — Or perhaps, more simply, British Indians in London. While it might seem obvious that this community is British Indian rather than simply Indian, I think it is important to stress that this community, British Indians, are predominantly British citizens, British-born, and have a dual British identity as well as their ancestral connection to India. • Oppose It is not the place of an article title to make points (and arguably POV ones at that: "I think it is important to stress ..") about the subject matter. The proposed title is less correct than the existing one as not all the Indian community of London is British. The existing title is clear and unambiguous and is consistent with naming of similar articles elsewhere. While I sympathise with the sentiments of the proposer, I don't think this is how Wikipedia should determine the names of its articles. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 01:45, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. At least borderline WP:SOAP as Mattinbgn hints, and contrary to WP:PRECISION. Nothing to recommend it really. Andrewa (talk) 03:36, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
The idea is to improve accuracy, not to use Wikipedia as a platform for any ideas. If not all the members of this community are British, then certainly not all are Indian, at least other than of Indian ancestry. This move is simply to conform this article with the parent article, British Indian. The Celestial City (talk) 11:01, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
I hear what you're saying, but I still don't think it's consistent with policy. Your ideas of accuracy, or mine or anyone else's for that matter, are not the primary consideration here. We follow English usage. French toast, for example, is neither French nor toast. Andrewa (talk) 05:37, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Maybe you're right. Withdrawing the move. The Celestial City (talk) 21:08, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
