Contested deletion edit

This article should not be speedy deleted as lacking sufficient context to identify its subject, because the person described herein is of general interest. Mainstream media are focusing in now as can be seen in the references. --Aschmidt (talk) 23:53, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

This article should not be speedy deleted as lacking sufficient context to identify its subject, because... this is a developing news story and the importance Ilya had to Diaspora* and to open-source social networking is significant and worthy of being told on the open medium of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.88.214.188 (talk) 23:59, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I agree.--Aschmidt (talk) 00:22, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

An article about Ilya Zhitomirskiy can be considered worthy of Wikipedia because he is a cofounder of Diaspora SNS. It's not Facebook or even Google+, but it has great potential and has garnered significant public attention. Please do not delete this article. --cielovista 2011 Nov 15, 14:24 (UTC).

You can note this is now being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ilya Zhitomirskiy and so you should make your arguments over there for them to be considered. You will probably also want to review Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions before contributing there. - Ahunt (talk) 14:30, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
DELETE !!!!!!!!

I beg of you, out of respect for the deceased and all he wished to accomplish delete this article! Ilya would want his privacy in this matter, as with all other aspects of his life. This article demoralizes the very principle that Ilya was fighting for. He was and will forever be in my memory so much more than a software developer, college student, descendent of mathematicians, or any other adjective/adverb. So please stop this article now! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.158.111.158 (talk) 19:48, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

no deletion

The article should not be deleted as you may already know, the information in the article is already public and of interest to the public. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.253.134.83 (talk) 22:35, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Writing and essays edit

If there is coverage of other writing by Zhitomirskiy, that would be worth including. – SJ +

There isn't. I made quite an exhaustive check during AFD. --Errant (chat!) 18:54, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

was it really suicide?? edit

was it really suicide??? seems like a lot of 3 letter agencies would prefer to see dispora disbanded.... at the risk of sounding like a nutjob, I have to say that freedom of speech and uncensored internet do not seem to be very popular these days with various increasingly oppressive regimes... For the Record, the police report only says that it was Probably a suicide. but we have all read the story books where certain types of people specialize on making things look like suicide or accidents. I looked at some photos of him, he didn't look depressed to me, whatever happened must have been pretty abrupt.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 215.237.14.54 (talk) 02:54, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

We have two refs cited on this right now. WebPro News says "Up to this point little was known about Zhitomirskiy’s death, but it now appears that he committed suicide. The Chicago Tribune is reporting that a source colse to Diaspora told CNNMoney that Zhitomirskiy took his own life." The second Gawker says "Ilya Zhitomirskiy, a 22-year-old co-founder of the hyped Facebook rival Diaspora committed suicide this weekend in San Francisco." CNN says "Zhitomirskiy committed suicide, a source close to the company told CNNMoney on Sunday." If you can cite a ref that says otherwise then by all means bring it forward. - Ahunt (talk) 12:04, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
If you have a look at https://github.com/zhitomirskiyi you see he was commiting to diaspora the day before he died. I also do not believe in his suicide. 93.228.24.12 (talk) 19:17, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I also do not believe in suicide. If this would be true, there would be a usual autopsy in the news. But this case seems to be special. I wrote to the officials in Bay Area, but they didn't replied... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.16.145.171 (talk) 19:27, 22 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
