Icewind Dale (series) → Icewind Dale (video game series) – "(series)" by itself remains ambiguous because of the The Icewind Dale Trilogy book series upon which the video games are based. After move, also suggest that the leftover redirect point to the trilogy as WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT the most expected destination per WP:R#ASTONISH. Netoholic @ 19:31, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose - Unless the book series was literally at Icewind Dale (book series) - which its not, nor should it be - its makes the "video game" disambiguation unnecessary. We disambiguate per article titles, not just existence of media in general. Sergecross73 msg me 19:39, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- Searching for "Icewind Dale series" I am primarily given results which discuss the more famous book series. That's why I suggested repointing the redirect. Redirects are also article titles which we have to work around for purposes of disambiguation. Either the video games or book series could be a viable target for Icewind Dale (series), which is why the video game article needs more complete disambiguation. -- Netoholic @ 19:55, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- For full transparency, Icewind Dale (book series) was a red link when I made the comment below, and made minutes ago by the discussion starter, so we're not talking about some long-running redirect that has helped readers in the past, but rather, something just created to advance their argument here. That aside, I don't think your average Wikipedia is going to type in something like that into a search bar regardless. Sergecross73 msg me 20:03, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
- If I type in the search box "Icewind Dale", the autosuggest puts Icewind Dale (series) up before the Trilogy. People clicking that might be searching for the games, but most likely the books due to the popularity. That's what I mean when I cite WP:ASTONISH so that we can better serve readers. Filling in that redlink is to serve that same purpose. Per WP:INCDAB, if there are two series related to Icewind Dale, we should make sure both are clearly disambiguated. And per WP:R#ASTONISH, that the redirects are targetted toward the most likely destination. -- Netoholic @ 20:28, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

- Oppose Per Sergecross, disambiguations are meant for articles that share the same name, not for partial title matches. Per WP:SMALLDETAILS any confusion between books and games can easily be resolved by a hatnote.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:33, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
