Clean-up edit

I cleaned up the page for minor grammatical errors and for consistancy. I also removed the link to the trailer from YouTube as they had removed the video, per the request of MGM.

Why straight to video?? edit

Its a pretty good movie, and has two big stars. It even made the New York Post's "Underrated movies of the decade" list. So why did it go straight to video? Their article suggests something scandalous ("thanks to some greedy money men...") and I'd love to know more! It's not that great a movie to begin with (hardly capable of holding together its three story lines: misogynistic boss, pubescent daughter, younger lover). It was quite pricey at $ 25 millions and entitled the star to 15 % of the gross revenue. Such baggage makes it hard to find a distributor willing to take the risks of a theatrical release. Ronan debut edit

The lead of the article claimed that this was the feature film debut of Saoirse Ronan. This information was not sourced anywhere in the article (such as the Production section). WP:FILMLEAD says the lead should summarize not supplant the article.

This claim would need to be properly sourced if it is to be included again. It seems WP:UNDUE to emphasize it in the lead, in any case, as it is only true on a minor technicality. The film Atonement was released (in Venice August 2007 and wide release) 7 September 2007. This film only received a limited release in a few European countries before Atonement. As it did not get a theatrical release in the UK or US, it is a direct to video release and to call it "feature film" is only technically true.

I think it would be best not to include the claim at all, but if editors want to restore it then it should be reliably sourced and added to the Production section, not the lead. -- 109.76.211.227 (talk) 10:22, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
