Untitled edit

I edited the article and removed "i, the imaginary unit equal to one of the square roots of −1". For more information, see the article about that subject.

Good to see all this extra content. However, as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages):

  • "Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link. Including more than one link can confuse the reader; including no links at all makes the entry useless for further navigation."
  • "Try to link to the disambiguated page with the first word in the line."
  • "Unlike a regular article page, don't wikilink any other words in the line, unless they may be essential to help the reader determine where they might find the information."
  • "The description associated with a link should be kept to a minimum, just sufficient to allow the reader to find the correct link."
  • "Longer Lists: The list may be broken up by subject area."
  • "Adding links to articles not yet written should be done with care."

I'll try and tidy this page up. -- DeLarge 09:34, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looks much better, thanks. I made a few minor changes for stylistic consistency as well. 24.166.178.71 21:56, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

edits/reverts of 25 June edit

Following the style guide on Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)

  • I, the symbol for iodine on the periodic table: "Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link." Removed excess link.
  • 1 (number) in Roman numerals: "Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link." Removed excess link.
  • i, the imaginary unit equal to the square root of −1: "Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link." Removed excess link.
  • I, the closed unit interval which contains all real numbers from 0 to 1 inclusive: "Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link." Removed excess link.
  • I, the color-difference channel which is in-phase with the subcarrier in the YIQ colorspace, commonly used with the NTSC television encoding scheme: "Try to link to the disambiguated page with the first word in the line." Moved blue link as near to first word as possible.
  • I, the in-phase communications channel in QAM modulation schemes: "Try to link to the disambiguated page with the first word in the line." Moved blue link as near to first word as possible.
  • i, the US television network formerly known as PAX: "Do not pipe the name of the links to the articles being listed. In many cases, this may be all the user needs to distinguish the article." Removed piping.
  • /i/, /ɨ/ and /ɪ/, the three forms of the letter I in the International Phonetic Alphabet: "Try to link to the disambiguated page with the first word in the line." Moved blue link as near to first word as possible.
  • i, a Japanese keicar manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors: "Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link." and "Do not pipe the name of the links to the articles being listed. In many cases, this may be all the user needs to distinguish the article." Removed piping and excess link.

Okay, I think it looks much better now. Thanks for the professional clean-up help. I added a link that references i as a loop count variable.

Maths templates edit

Hi User:Edokter. Re these edits using the maths template [1]. My understanding is we try to minimise/eliminate the use of templates on dabs. For example using piped links rather than ship name templates (as we would in an article). I'm guessing the same should apply to maths templates such as {{mvar}}. It's not in WP:MOSDAB though, but it's all about keeping dabs simple, and it may need clarifying at MOSDAB or the project. What is certain is that we prefer links at the start of the entry, so I'm undoing this edit for that, and we can discuss here. Regards Widefox; talk 17:33, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

The primary reason to use these templates is to make these terms legible and distinguishable. It has nothing to do with linking, the placement of links or any ohter DAB-related MOS issue. Wihtout it, the capital "i" (I) is indistinguishable from the lower-case l. So I have restored the proper formatting of the mathematical related terms. -- [[User:Edokter]] {{talk}} 20:01, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Should Meshuggah's I also be listed under songs edit

The EP also contains a song called "I" (the only song) but I'm not sure whether it is necessary to list it again--Awesomewiki64 (talk) 17:14, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

That would be redundant, especially since there is no separate article. -- [[User:Edokter]] {{talk}} 17:19, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
