I think it was decided to just leave the codes unchanged. The ISO 3166 codes for North Macedonia have remained MK (alpha-2), MKD (alpha-3) and 807 (numeric). When Western Samoa became just Samoa, the WS code was left unchanged probably because all the appropriate codes starting with S were already taken. August-54 (talk) 12:21, 28 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
