Plagarism

A large portion of this article has been plagarised from Bharat-Rakshak's page on the Kiev class carrier. L1CENSET0K1LL 03:25, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Imitation is... but if it bothers you, why not rewrite it? - Aerobird 16:21, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
What exactly was taken from the page? If you don't like it, tag it and rewrite it! (USMA2010 05:30, 22 June 2006 (UTC))
Several other sources plagiarised too. I'm re-writing them. And a big FU to whoever did this. Marathi_Mulgaa (talk) 06:24, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Refit location

Is it sure the refitting work is being done in Severomorsk. Have a look at 64 32'52.13 N 39 48'50.19 E in Google Earth. This is Severodvinsk, Arkhangelskaya Oblast' —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.220.85.226 (talk) 12:29, 5 February 2007 (UTC).

WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 18:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Meaning of Vikramaditya

I think it means "One who has conquered the Sun" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.56.194.22 (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Seriously, who believe this ship will be delivered....

Russia just makes India navy looks foolish. This ship is 30 years old and the price is increasing every month. India navy is sucked by a deep hole.

Something's telling me that this is the last ship India will be buying from Russia, lol! Increasing price every month is seriously NOT cool Rad vsovereign (talk) 11:25, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

It'll be delivered alright, but with only 15 MiG-29s, all of which will be operating at less than full weapon and fuel capacity, and a deck system that means planes can't land and take off at the same time, it remains to be seen just how effective it'll be. Add to that that untested systems, high cost and a questionable hull, and the usefullness of said carrier is up in the air.

It's nice to see the West isn't the only one that suffers from procurement dramas. Sarcastic ShockwaveLover (talk) 15:36, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Guys we need to focus. Yes it's frustrating that India may not get the ship delivered on time, but any articles that are written about it and are used to cite stuff here NEED TO BE RELIABLE SOURCES. Much of Indian news has the same problem at times like British news: they tend to be overexaggerated in some things without proper credible information. --TrevelyanL85A2 (talk) 09:53, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Picture of INS Vikramaditya

So this picture seems to be a model for me. What do you think? (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikpedia/en/thumb/6/66/INS_Virkamaditya_artist_conception.jpg/800px-INS_Virkamaditya_artist_conception.jpg)

And what bothers me is that the description says "The Vikramaditya operating as a STOBAR carrier"

Namesake of the ship

Is the namesake of the ship 1st century BC emperor of Ujjain Vikramāditya, or the Gupta emperor Chandragupta Vikramaditya? Any references to support either? Anir1uph | talk | contrib 20:45, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Comment by Adaptor40

Vikramditya will be delivered by Nov 15 pending all trail completes by Oct 15, will try to get source soon Adaptor40 (talk) 20:59, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Is the Image of the Artist's Impression of INS Vikramaditya Needed?

The INS Vikramditya was launched on 4 December 2008 and it was officially commissioned in the Indian Navy on 16 November 2013. So does the image in the article about the artist's impression of the ship (in the Design section) hold any significance? If it does not, then shouldn't it be considered for removal? --War&passion (talk) 07:28, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

I have removed the image since I felt it appropriate to do so. War&passion (talk) 05:41, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Requested Move

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. The relevant guideline is NCSHIP and, despite the proposer's assertion, it has been shown by BDD and BilCat to be against this type of move. So despite the numerical majority, the consensus is for the article to remain where it is. Jenks24 (talk) 11:27, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

INS VikramadityaINS Vikramaditya (R33) – It is the most common practice to name ships along with their pennant numbers whenever available. I don't understand why this article was specifically moved back to this name when the pennant was clearly available. There are only 2 ways; either remove pennant numbers from all the other ship articles (there are thousands) or add pennant to this article name. I feel the second one is quite easy. And yesm WP:NCSHIP clearly says to add the pennant number if available. Cheers, ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 08:47, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

  • Week Support: While NCSHIP calls for the pennant number to be part of the title, am damn sure that a vast majority of readers will reach this article through the redirect that we will keep at "INS Vikramaditya" as that would be the most likely search term. And this is not the right venue to challenge NCSHIP. Actually, its same with medical and other scientific terms. (Daffodil is more common than Narcissus (plant) and Shingles is more common than Herpes zoster.) §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:14, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Support As the proposer mentions ships are mentioned with their pennant numbers where available. Same should be the case for IN ships too.--PremKudvaTalk 04:50, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Support as per WP:NCSHIP - Nick Thorne talk 04:54, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Comments - Based on a discussion with limited participation at WT:SHIPNAME#Over disambiguation, the following caveat was added to the guidelines: "If there is only one ship of the name, it is wrong to disambiguate, per WP:PRECISE." This article's name change was discussed a couple of months ago at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ships/Archive 40#Ship disambiguation, with no clear consensus to revert the changes. So while I oppose the guideline change, it was indeed changed, and thus the guideline is against the proposed move. Nonetheless, I'm not opposing the move. - BilCat (talk) 05:49, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Oppose per NCSHIP, which pretty clearly says not to do this. BilCat's explanation is noted, but I'm for following the guideline as it stands. --BDD (talk) 18:53, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
