The article is a little confusing because the 854-1987 was superceded by 754-1985 immediately, but no mention of why it was adopted two years after its successor. Don't know how to fix that Chris2crawford (talk) 23:57, 10 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Also: "IEEE 754 specifies floating-point arithmetic for both radix 2 (binary) and radix 10 (decimal)" looks like it describes 854 (similar to text in the introduction)? IEEE Std 854-1987 was obviously not superceded by IEEE Std 754-1985, since 854 was adopted later, and 754-1985 did not cover decimal (or any non-binary) floating point. IEEE Std 854-1987 was in practice superceded by IEEE 754-2008, which did include decimal floating point. --Brouhaha (talk) 17:45, 18 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
