Watches and Warnings edit

Do we really need this section? I mean, I get that it's nice having a record of this, knowing which areas revived watches/warnings for however long and whatnot. However, I haven't seen any other Tropical cyclone article bearing anything section similar to this, and it does appear to be kind of excessive, so this section really isn't needed, I highly recommend reducing it to simple references to the watches/warnings in the Preparations section, or otherwise, removing it altogether. I think it works well for storms that affect several islands and landmasses, as Bertha did. Georges would also be a great candidate for this. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:19, 30 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Figured I'll review this.

  • An area of low pressure subsequently consolidated within the disturbance on July 29 and the NHC assessed the system as having a high probability of becoming a tropical depression within 48 hours. - don't have two "within"s here. Maybe say something like "NHC assessed the system as having imminent potential of becoming a tropical depression." ...? That avoids the awkward necessity of mentioning high probability that isn't needed when covering something in prose. Not to mention, it would make the subsequent few sentences more interesting.
  • Not sure if you know, but why weren't advisories discontinued while the storm was in the Caribbean?
    • Probably because it was an immediate threat to land. Rather awkward for the NHC to stop issuing warnings when a storm is moving through several countries. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 21:47, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "Bertha soon merged with the trough steering it northeast as it moved into the cold sector of the front which extended from Nova Scotiato The Bahamas." - commas?
  • Any reason for the Warnings and watches section? I saw you removed it from Arthur's article when you worked on that.
    • Arthur has a "Warnings and watches" section, just not in table form. I was playing around with a different, less prose heavy, format here. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 21:47, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Across Martinique, the storm produced sustained winds of 46 mph (74 km/h) with gusts to 54 mph (87 km/h) - I feel like there could be a better way to start the impact section. Seems kinda abrupt
  • I'd write out LIAT the first time
    • LIAT seems to be the common name, even the article has the abbreviated title. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 21:47, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Flood warnings were issued for 6 regions across the nation while alerts were raised for a further 47 areas during the storm's passage - define regions or areas. I'm aware of counties and countries in UK, but not these subregions.
  • n London, a water main burst and inundated surrounding streets. Thirty shops were affected and nearby stations of the London Underground were swamped. - how is this related to the storm?
    • Appears to be sparked by the heavy rains, but not explicitly stated. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 21:47, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

All in all really good! Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 23:56, 23 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Happy to pass, especially after conferring with Jason Rees. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 03:14, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
