In this case, I believe it means the tool has essentially become a reference implementation of a certain attacks. Even if an argument were to be made that hping is obsolete now that nmap has more or less the same functionality, it's still of historical significance. It's also referenced as the de facto tool by some CEH v9 prep material I've read, though I don't know how official that is. —Zenexer [talk] 15:35, 27 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The article reads as self-promotion or fan POV. Also, needs fixing of the grammar, esp. around the 'de facto' part as well as the 'one type of a tester'. Neuviemeporte (talk) 08:54, 25 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
