The article text in Regional Variation reads, "In some places, they allow a cow (sacred animal among the Hindus) to be the first to enter the house, as the first part of the ceremony." 1. Is Wikipedia written from a western POV where all European/North American countries are "us" and LATAM/Africa/Asia are they? 2. Etiquette Rule edit
Someone put something in the article to the effect that etiquette demands that the host request "no gifts". In actuality, etiquette demands that gifts never be mentioned in an invitation, even to request "no gifts". I'm sure I could find dozens of cites, but I'm a little pressed for time right now... Are we sure a housewarming party has to take place within 90 days of moving in? A citation for this rule (that I've never heard in my life to be honest) would be helpful!IKenny (talk) 16:08, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
Organizing this article edit
One issue is that the different headings don't really make sense. The History section is also about (medieval?) European gifts. The gift section is about regional variation, and in the regional variation section, there are mentions of gifts given. I will try to reorganize this, but if anyone has suggestions, it would be nice to collaborate. Drew Stanley (talk) 18:13, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
