The list of Notable members of the House of Fürstenberg is incorrect. The barons and counts of Fürstenberg are unrelated tot the princes. Känsterle 00:39, 17 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Really? If you have a source, could you straighten it out? I don't have a Handbuch des Adels...--Joe 09:08, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, if this is a mistake, it is quite a serious one, so if you can shed any light on this, please do. This article is being mirrored and showing up near the top of every search engine. I will try to find that online genealogy on which I based this; I thought it showed that the princely line and the baronial could all be traced back to some 18th century ancestor (William, I believe), but I may have misconstrued it. --Joe 09:17, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're right, the houses were founded around the same time - which helped lead to some confusion on my part - but the founders do not appear to be related.

The 19th century German encyclopedia Meyers Konversations-Lexikon has separate articles about "Fürstenberg, altes Grafen- und Fürstengeschlecht in Schwaben" (Fürstenberg, ancient comital and princely family in Swabia) [1] and "Fürstenberg, alte freiherrliche Familie, in Westfalen und dem Rheinland" (Fürstenberg, ancient baronial family in Westphalia and the Rhineland" [2]. The German Wikipedia has an article de:Fürstenhaus Fürstenberg (Princely House of Fürstenberg) and an article de:Freiherren von Fürstenberg (Barons of Fürstenberg). According to the last article, the two families have "genealogically nothing in common" (genealogisch nichts gemeinsam). Känsterle 14:56, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
