Engine edit

While the Engine is credited as GameMaker Studio on the wiki article, I noticed that the sourced link in the comments field of this edit says the game is actually built in GameMaker, but they use a tool to convert the GameMaker game to a format they then use in their own engine. This should be updated. 72.192.152.172 (talk) 02:33, 11 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

How many endings are there? edit

I think there are at least 2 endings. One for normal mode and one for hard mode. But there may be a third one. The safe file savedata.vfs contains a lot of other files. One is named ending.dat. Within this file there are three values. In my opinion the values can be 0 or 1 meaning TRUE or FALSE. If there are three endings, how do I get to number 3? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.227.211.181 (talk) 00:20, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Character names edit

So, this is a screenshot of the upcoming level editor, and it got me thinking: where did the names of "The Soldier" (young Beard) and "The Son" come from? Was there a source or is this the Wikipedia doomsday scenario of us making something up, and the thing we made up getting legitimized by reliable sources that are later used to justify the original edits? Were these fan names from other sites? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 00:07, 18 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've had this section lying around in my sandbox and might as well just leave it here Micro (Talk) 09:34, 9 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I've added it. It looks good enough to publish to me. AtlasDuane (talk) 15:45, 20 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Per my revert, track listings are outside WP:VGSCOPE, and don't belong here, frankly. Furthermore, out of the 7 sources provided, only one is reliable (The guardian), while the others are store listings, SoundCloud or blogs from unreliable tertiary sources. Unless the soundtrack independently received a lot of reliable coverage (from gaming mags and considered-reliable website, that is), we can include it with sourcing present. The version here-above, however, is insufficient. Lordtobi () 16:01, 20 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'll take this. ♦ jaguar 13:34, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Lead
  • "It takes place before, during, and after the events of Hotline Miami, focusing on the backstory and aftermath of the previous protagonist Jacket's massacres against the Russian mafia in Miami at the behest of anonymous tips left by his answering machine" - this is quite a long sentence which will surely flow better if split into two, or condensed somewhat
    • Done.
  • "The events are told from the perspective of several different characters in numerous different locations" - I'd remove the repetition here
    • Done.
  • "A localized version released in Japan on June 25, alongside the first game in Hotline Miami: Collected Edition" - does this mean this game was released as part of Hotline Miami: Collected Edition? Was it a compilation? If so I'd rewrite it as It was also released in Japan on June 25, as part of Hotline Miami: Collected Edition.
    • Done.
  • "while the narrative and changes to gameplay and level design received a mixed response, and a scene depicting sexual assault triggered largely negative feedback from critics" - this can easily be split into two sentences to improve flow
    • Rewrote that bit.
Body
  • "the objective in most chapters is to defeat every enemy inside" - redundant word
    • Done.
  • "and the masks mechanic returns for certain characters as well" - the mask mechanic is note described
    • I don't see the note describing the mask mechanic, so I'm not sure what this means. I might still be half asleep.
  • "were still focused on patching the original game. Similarly to the original game" - repetition of 'original game', replace the latter with its predecessor
    • Done.
  • "The game was created with the fans of the original game in mind, not concerned with expanding into a larger audience" - this doesn't read well. Replace with The game was created with the fans of the original game in mind. The team was not concerned with attracting a larger audience and instead prioritised...
    • Done.
  • "Upon the release of the Nintendo Switch Hotline Miami Collection in August 2019" - missing word here? port between 'Switch' and 'Hotline'?
    • Done.

Haven't done a GAN in a while! I've made a few alterations, but nothing major. Once all the above are addressed it should more or less meet the GA criteria. I've put it on hold for now.  jaguar 13:53, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reviewing this as I said in the FNAF 3 review. I believe I've addressed everything above except the mask mechanic note, in which I'm not too sure what that means. Everything else is addressed however. NegativeMP1 15:22, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I'm content this meets the GA criteria so will be happy to promote.  jaguar 18:23, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

  •   Article promoted to GA on time and I didn't find any close paraphrasing. Hook is interesting, cited inline, and verified, but I wonder if it can be revised: the hook says the developers encouraged Australian customers to pirate the game, but the article instead says they suggested that they do so. Either the article or the hook will need to be revised to resolve this. Finally, QPQ checker is showing you have less than five QPQ credits: can you confirm that you have less than five nominations?
