Is there a connection to the Norwegian B class submarine which is a Holland type lauched 20 years later?Inge 14:49, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

Opening paragraph

"This led to the myth of the Royal Navy not taking any interest in submarines. On the contrary, the Royal Navy thought the submarine could become a potential weapon, and it had been Admiralty policy in the 19th Century to avoid adopting revolutionary weapons."
Read the above carefully, it strikes me that this doesn't make a lot of sense ... on the one hand it's saying that the RN were keen on submarines (by any account a revolutionary weapon) and then goes on to say that the RN policy was against such weapons. I suggest that this needs clarity, can't help a great deal myself for this period I'm more technology than politics. PrinceElrik (talk) 23:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Basicaly the royal navy at that point worked on the basis that Britian had the industrial capacity to catch up and overtake anyone else's developments so there was little need to be the leader in the field when it came to introducing new ideas.©Geni 03:58, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
